Description

A restaurant, cabañas to rent and quite a lot of space to pitch your tent or park your camper with decent toilets and showers owned by a friendly Mexican team. It’s on the Playa de Morro Ayuta, one out of the two most important beaches worldwide where arribadas (a natural phenomenon where thousands of turtles come on the beach to lay their eggs at the same time; they can count more than 1 million (!) nesting turtles in a year) happen every month during waning moon (approx) for a few days. The beach is 15 km long and covered with empty eggs. Paid MEX$ 100 for two people in a camper.

Latest Check-Ins

We’re two cycle tourists. We camped under the palapa on the beach, we weren’t charged to camp and were allowed to use the toilets and showers which was really kind.

However, the guy here was a little strange (don’t think it’s the owner) - we really tried to engage in our broken Spanish but he was just swinging on the hammock staring at us which felt quite intimidating as two women. He was harmless but we didn’t feel very comfortable. Also, we asked about food to buy and perhaps it’s off season but he was reluctant to offer anything - which is strange as it’s a restaurant. He just slept for the whole afternoon and evening in the hammock snoring.

It’s absolutely beautiful on the beach at sunset and sunrise.

Isaac took us to watch the turtles at night. We saw hundreds of turtles. It was amazing! Sadest part is all the locals taking the eggs. Isaac is very open to give explanations about all that phenomenon.
The place itself still need some love but it was nice to be there for one night. 200 pesos for one night , 2 adults.

Report Check-In

very relaxed, beautiful space. on wednesday - thursday it is usually low according to the very friendly velador, expect more people on the weekends. we were the only guests. camping for 200 pesos, a room with ventilator (no ac) would cost 600. by bike we had no problem reaching the place, only had to push around 100meters through deep sand were they are currently rebuilding the track, a 4wd should be able to pass. at the first sign of 'Flor de pacifico' turn left, they want to add an arrow to indicate the direction some day. we saw one turtle laying eggs in the night, apparently in 10 days should be a peak again with hundreds of them coming in..

The one road on Google maps (and in here) is the bad one, you have to take the one which is partially a bit more north (visible on Maps.me)

Report Check-In

Camping was 200, which is a bit pricey for Mexican standards. There are palapas to sleep under on the beach, but most of the roof is gone.

I decided to take a room. The room was 500 pesos including breakfast. The room did only have a bed and a ventilator. Th room was very hot, which made it almost impossible to sleep.

A guy of the place explained me that they a redoing fixing the place in phases and that they are going to isolate the rooms and put AC in. It is a place with potential, but not really finished. You pay the full price though.

That said the spot is beautiful en the people that work there are very nice and kjnd. Food in the restaurant is alright.

THIS PLACE IS OPEN! Bit of a trek to get to, slightly confusing track and quite sandy, would recommend messaging Issac and see if he can show you the way (+52 958 142 9609). Place is as others below have listed, beach with turtles, restaurant, showers, toilets and palapas to stay. Really nice spot and really nice people.

Report Check-In

It was amazing, I was in the re-opening of the restaurant and the cabañas. They made their best dishes: camarón al mojo de ajo (shrims with garlic), ceviche, ...
I slept in the room, they are changing many things as they are restarting again, but they are asking around 500$mxn for a room in front of the beach, they are adapting AC... they restore all the toilets, the energy is by solar panels, ...
there is a lot of place to camp, I liked so much!
I was there for a few days and I could see a turtle laying the eggs in the afternoon! I could see in other occasions the arribada phenomenon, every waning moon, so every month, for a few days from July to March! You can see like 100,000 sea turles in just three days, it's amazing. In Morro Ayuta they arrive more than 1 million turtles every year.
I recommend you to be careful to drive during rainy season, after June to October, so you have to ask to the community if the road is well or if it's better to ask for some support to arrive to Flor del Pacífico.

Report Check-In

Yesterday they re-open the place! Noe they are working 24hours in the place. The road was fixed until rainy season at least. After june, you will have to ask to the community if it's okey to arrive by car to Flor del Pacífico. there is plenty space to camp and the team is amazing! a few days ago I was looking for turtles with the guides. Really recommended!! ❤️🐢🌅

Report Check-In

It was amazing. I went during the re-opening party. They cooked their best dishes: camarones al mojo de ajo, ceviche, ...
I slept in one of their three rooms, they need to add more furniture, and they are still working a bit on them, but I slept fresh even being the dry and got season now. Everything is new, they repair the whole place!
They are renting the room now at 500$MXN, but I am pretty sure that they will face some changes these days until they have fixed their final service!
We were suuuper lucky since we saw in the afternoon a turtle laying the eggs in the beach right in front Flor del Pacífico!! But as I understood that is super difficult to see! However, few days every month is possible to see them massively nesting, I saw thousands of them in other occasions, during waning moon is the best moment!

Report Check-In

There was no one there when we arrived and the place looks like it has not seen anyone in quite some time. The few locals that came by said it was open and that Isaac was in town. The lights at the entrance were on and the toilets flush. was quiet over night. beach is deserted. very windy dont know if its always like this. road in and out is not super easy. doable in two wheel drive but there are lots of places with good amounts of sand. also any vehicle that is too high runs the risk of catching on some branches.

Report Check-In

very Sandy !!
7,km dirt road
We turn back 3km before arrival, it was becoming very narrow, with low branches and Sand for our 24 feet RV

Report Check-In

We came in at dark. Isaac started his quad/ATV and brought us to the turtle beach. It was a 4 km trip one way. We stayed 20 minutes at different places and returnes with him. We saw turtles ( nearly 100), eggs and baby turtles. Awesome.

We payed for the trip 150pp. The night was included ... or free ...

Report Check-In

We loves our stayed at la palapa Flor del Pacifico.
It is a very simple palapa, right at the ocean. Clean restrooms and showers.
Isaac is very friendly.
He took us at night on a 2h tour to see the turtles nest (100 pp). It is really a unique and incredible experience. There was thousands of turtles. He shared with us many insights about the animals and its experience with them.

If you are around between the 10/10/19 and the 10/17/19 just pass by Flor del Pacifico and ask for a tour with Isaac! There will be plenty of turtles around.

In November, when the little turtles will come out, Isaac also leads tours to watch them go out and help them reach the ocean - I would definitely go if I could!

Report Check-In

Very remote and very hot place. The google maps and maps.me can take you to small roads that can be difficult if you have big rigs. It is good to ask locals where to go. Isaac and his wife were very friendly and they make excellent fish. There is no shade apart from their big terrace. We went to see the egg-laying turtles at night. Isaac took us to the place that is 5 km far from their spot and then left us there taking back others. We had to wait almost an hour for the ride back to the camping. We felt very alone at night with 4 kids on the beach far away from civilization and far away from our camper. We did not feel comfortable at all. If we had known that he left us their we wouldn’t have gone. The beach was full with egg laying turtles and full of dogs. We paid M$100/ adults for the tour and 50/kids. No additional fee for camping. Decent cold shower and fairly clean toilets.

Isaac and his wife are back and have the service running again.. Cabañas, showers, food and of course the turtles which are back again! Isaak is super happy to tell you everything he knows when you go on a tour :) really interesting! So the first babies are hatching. If I got it right, the mothers lay eggs around full moon early July and 45 days later (new moon) the babies crawl to sea.. This goes on until December/ January and always peaks with the moon cycles..Go and see the beach turn to a living black pile!

appears recently (seasonally?) abandoned, everything open...ish . water and electricity still functioning

Full moon Strong wind and Beach full of egg laying turtles. I love dogs but these need to go from here

Report Check-In

Perfect place for overnight camping by the restaurantito El Flor Del Pacifico. 50 pesos per person to pitch a tent. Access to toilets and shower. Clean bathroom and fresh water (but who needs hot water in this part of the world?)
Isaak, the owner, very hospitable and interesting guy. Took us for a night trip on the quad to see the nesting turtles (100 pesos pp).
Remote place by the ocean, access by an off-road trail, accessible by bicycle as well.
Restaurant has food for dinner and breakfast. Open all year-long

Report Check-In

Great spot to camp run by very friendly people. We didn't see the turtles, but there were thousands of egg shells as the baby turtles had hatched last week.

The drive out is great, done by 2wd no problem. Getting past the restaurant/bathroom building would require 4wd due to sand.

Has warm showers as well for 5pp.

Report Check-In

This is simply a wonderful place with its deserted situation. We were the only campers there. The host asked if we wanted to see the turtles, and of course we did. He explained that since it's out of season he would have to see if there were any. After finding one he came back and took us to see it.

He's a nice and friendly guy. When we were to leave we were stuck in the sand and he worked with us for at least an hour before we were able to drive. So be careful. The sand is deep and even with four wheel drive you can easily get stuck.

Another thing is that it is hard to find. A few signposts would have made it so much easier. And then the trees. We have a truck camper and the branches made some damages on the roof.

Bottomline: It's highly recommended.

Report Check-In

maybe you'll have better luck than we did. we didn't see any live turtles but saw many large dead ones :( theres a pack of wild dogs that stalk the beach and dig up the eggs. we were a little uneasy when we saw them at night. the couple here are very nice people! 100mxn for your car/van 250 for cabañas. some locals came to hang out in the morning and were nice and bought us some beers. the even offered for us to come to their ranch and ride horses

Report Check-In

Stayed the night here. Nice owners. Lots of turtle shells on the beach but no baby turtle sightings.

Report Check-In

Very special place for the fact that you can see lots of wild turtles. The beach is long, beautiful, with waves but you can swim too. We went for a walk in the beach around 5pm and we could see little turtles coming out from their nests, although lots of dogs and birds eating them, we could help some to enter to the see. It was a magic experience. We didn’t went at night to see the big ones coming cause we were really tired but there were some chances to see them.
We slept next to the restaurant, the owners live there so it’s a safe place, toilets and showers ok and they also offer food. 100 pesos x night.
We will probably come back next week for the amazing phenomenon “arribadas” when thousands of turtles come at the same night to lay their eggs.
