Gorgeous location on a huge bend in the river with mountain views both up and down the river. Mostly out of sight from the road. Can camp on a beautiful meadow right on the river if ground is firm enough, however, some people seem to have bogged their cars here. Some wind shelter on the access track. This is a fantastic spot — please keep it clean and tidy.

The water level of the river is quite high at the moment. The land is filled with water and I wouldn't pitch a tent there in case of rain during the night.
Report Check-InYes, I agree, it's a Beaut! Great views on a good day. can be different on a wet day I guess. I loved it. 😍
Report Check-InGround boggy or stony, reasonably exposed to the wind and the place felt quite open in general with several vehicles coming up and down this side road so we moved on.
Report Check-InBeautiful views as described. Pitched in a grassy spot amidst the trees. ground was flat and dry but there isn’t a lot of protection from strong Northwesterly wind gusts, fortunately it tends to calm down by dusk so we spent a rather restful night. Be prepared for mozzies, No easy access to water.
Report Check-InBack again for another night - idyllic! And this time have sunshine ☀
Report Check-InBeautiful wide river and mountain views on a grassy strip that is a bit soggy when it rains! Easy access. Very peaceful night, no camping open in Tortel if I wanted it!
Report Check-InThe other descriptions check out, but it seems that it now has an abandoned truck and a shady cabin. There is also some construction stuff there. We decided not to stay because of this, but the views are nice.
Report Check-InView is ideal, space for tents, cars etc, some gravel road being built when we were there but chap doing it didn’t mind us staying and left at 5pm. visited in 4x4 with camping box
Report Check-Invery nice spot, one of the best we had in southamerica. with tent and van no problem! loved it
Report Check-InWe stayed close to the water before the road bends to go parallel with the river. There is a part where you can stand with one vehicle off the road on pebbles. It was a rainy day, but beautiful scenery next to the river, nice (wet;) grass and trees and views on the surrounding mountains. In the evening some cows passed and stay in the night further up the road (saw them the next morning but didn’t hear them at night). We had a very quiet night and it’s very nice to be a bit further from the road. Close to town, but far enough to feel the nature and peace of it. Clean, no telephone reception.
Report Check-Ingreat spot for a picnic. Cant access water and if you try you might get a rapid and wet journey to Tortel :).
Report Check-InGreat area away from the road. As I visit in utumn, very muddy track further up the river, but doable with a high 4x4. S said before, great view, no cell whatsoever.
Report Check-InWow! What a spot. We arrived late afternoon with clouds and rain blowing through but still amazing. Definitely some wet areas off the road and we stayed away from the edge near the river which is suffering erosions. A local person did drive to the end of the lane later on (8pm-ish). They didn’t stop to chat to us. A few insects also but the views are incredible, away from the road.
Report Check-Invery nice spot but we were invested by a lot of big muskitos that were not very pleasant
Report Check-InGreat place to spend the night or hang out a bit! Beautiful view on the mountains around and glacier. Big river, but as already said, difficult to access it and strong currents. Be careful where you park, some places were very wet. You are protected from the road by trees, so invisible and no dust! Accessible without a 4WD, no problem. Good for tent too.
Report Check-InStretch of nice meadows by the river - plenty of space for vans and tents. But no fresh water apart from the big river which is tricky/dangerous to access - we filtered the water from it . There is a stream on the main road about 200 meters further on towards Tortel at the next bend, worth topping up there before camping. This bend in the road also has room for a tent.
Report Check-InPerfect place, big grassy flat leveled area to park if it’s dry enough. Check it, for us the area close to the river was definitely dry enough and no problem with 2wd. The area near the trees was really wet, so pay attention. It was silent during the night, wonderful star sky and the moon was mirroring in the water. Nice scenery with the mountains and not visible from the street. Totally recommend!
Report Check-InGreat flat spot, loads of room for tents and very quiet. Hard to Acess the river for drinks water. We used a very small stream going through a bog and filtered the water. Tasted fine but not as good as usual Patagonia standards.
Report Check-InProbably best camping option close to Caleta Tortel. Great views of the mountains as everyone says.
Report Check-InSuper pretty, ground was firm again but the bugs were insane during the gaps of no wind.
Report Check-InThe meadow is now firm enough to drive and camp on. An old dark-red Chevy ute is parked (and abandoned?) in the access track but you can get past it easily. Great place.
Report Check-InA very pretty meadow, but too boggy to drive on. We parked on the gravel road and enjoyed the view from there. Partially visible to the road, but let's face it - there just ain't that many cars going past out here! :) there was a car parked up near an old shed off to the side when we arrived, but no people. A good spot for a quiet night. Turn off is right next to the bus shelter.
Report Check-InDid not stay here as there where people here on a Sunday evening but would in a heart beat. Gorgeous location on a huge bend in the river with mountain views both up and down the river. GPS is approximate but should be pretty close, can't miss the only road to the river.
