Description

10$ Belize per night per person. We parked our van on the grass beside the hotel, directly on the shore of the lake. They gave us access to the bathroom of a hotel room. Very nice place and friendly owner.
Hotel is well-signed when you enter Crooked Tree village.

Nice place to spend the night near the river. Very friendly host. Dogs avec welcome.
Lot of stinging ants.
Easy access with a large truck camper. 20Bz for the night.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place to stay overnight. Very welcoming hosts. Charged us 20 BZD per night. Could use bathroom and shower in the house. Safe and secure. Tight and steep entrance for bigger rigs.

Report Check-In

Beautiful place, quiet and very welcoming.
Nice place to stay overnight.

Report Check-In

Good place to stay for some nights. Good Wifi and really calm. If we could we would come back. The View is beautiful.

Report Check-In

Great location to stay for a few days after crossing the border.

- Getting there: Follow Google Maps until it looks like you're going to drive into the lake. Turn left and go between the concrete wall and the lake (the lake was very close to the wall when we were there but we didn't have to engage 4x4).

- Price: We paid $10 Belize pp.

- Showers & bathroom: We had access to our own indoor bathroom with a shower.

- WiFi: Good speeds for us; 20mbps download and 10mbps upload.

- Other things to note: Nary was very kind and friendly. Carrie's Kitchen is a great place to eat; whatever they have as the special of th day is probably th best choice. Nary can probably find out their hours and special for th day if you ask her.

Lovely tranquil spot with lots of wild fowl on the Laguna
Super to have the luxury of an indoor toilet and shower too!!!!

Report Check-In

Great place on the lake, very peaceful.
Was $10pp with a bathroom available from a vacant room.
The host was extremely friendly

Report Check-In

Really friendly, quite tight turn in but no problem good showers , right on the Lagoon

Report Check-In

Entry to the area is $8 BZD per person now.

Report Check-In

We didn’t pay any entry to the area. Nobody wanted anything, the road is under construction so perhaps the entry booth was removed? Jacana Inn is a nice and peaceful place right at the lagoon. The owner is very friendly, opened a hotel room for us to use the bathroom. 10$ per person.
We didn’t need electricity so we didn’t ask for it. Wifi didn’t work. She told us it doesn’t work with iPhone only with android????

Report Check-In

Still open! Very quiet place and friendly hosts, the perfect place to have a closer look at the crooked tree village. Parking on grass with a view at the lagoon and they let you use the bathroom with a shower inside an unoccupied hotel room. Still 20 BZD per van per night. Great stay!

Report Check-In

A place directly on the lagoon. Parking with grass. The owners are very nice. We were the only ones there. 20bz$ per night for RV and the whole family. We caught some fish in the lagoon and cooked them. They are called crana, they were delicious. Wifi.
We could use a bathroom with toilet and shower. We had an extremely quiet night, perfect !

Report Check-In

We had a peaceful stay in the garden at the beautiful lagoon.

Report Check-In

Great place to stay in the crooked tree wildlife reserve. It's still 20 BZD for a van / 2 people, and she will give you access to a very clean bathroom with shower and good wifi. Nari is super friendly and welcoming. Great view on the laguna. She told us the trails in the reserve were not maintained due to the pandemic, but we could spot a lot of birds inside the village as well.

You need to pay the fee for the reserve separately (one time fee of 8BZD per person) at the entrance of the village (there's a sign saying please check in here). They normally also have trail maps available there.

Report Check-In

Looked closed when we arrived. We couldn’t find anyone and no response via phone/WhatsApp. August 3, 2021

Report Check-In

Very nice and quiet place. Very friendly owner. Stayed one night on the grassy area next to the hotel. Were the only once here. Good Bird Bird watching and beautiful sunrise. Payed 20 BZD for 2 people. Clean bathroom in the hotel. Recommended.

Report Check-In

We camped here for 2 night for 20 Belize per night. Safe place, pretty view of lake, good birding. Strong wifi. Let us use the bathroom and shower in one of their rooms. The shower was very weak and mostly cold water. We rented their "canoe" for 40 Belize for an entire day from 6am until night. Didnt eat here, but they do serve all meals if told in advance. The owners are very nice. had an interesting tour from Earl, the husband, of all the different food plants they are growing on their property. He's recently moved back from LA to retire here on this parcel of land, which has been his family's property for at least a few generations

Report Check-In

Very nice owners. We loved this place. we payed for a room 25 US Dollars instead normally 35.
Campground ist 10 US Dollars per tent. WiFi close to the bureau is well, but not in the rooms far away. Absolutely recommended.

Report Check-In

Place with lovely owners! Can park direct in the direction of the water. Best to come in the main season to see the birds and maybe the manatees. In the low season a good place to stay for one or two nights. For shower and toilet you get access to one of the cabana rooms.

Report Check-In

Quiet and tranquil place to stay. The lady was lovely. We could use electricity (a cord to reach the plug inside the house is necessary). Wifi works better by the side of the house, between the fence and the house. The gate was already fixed when we were there.
Two people + defender with rooftop tent 20 belizean dollars

Report Check-In

Very friendly owners as previously described - they were fixing the entrance so we couldn't go in, but we could park right outside the house.
Electricity available, just bring an extension cord (6 meters or so to the house).
Shower and toilet inside the hotel, clean but not too much water pressure in the shower.
Toiletries and towels also included.
Unfortunately water level is too high at the lagoon right now, so not many birds.
Wifi wasn't working but I think it's a temporary issue.
Nice place for our first night in Belice :)

Report Check-In

Very good place ! The family is very friendly. Possible to swing in front their house.

Report Check-In

The owners are so lovely!
Wr took the breakfast (which was really nice), but didn’t know that it was so expensive. We paid $24 bzd for a breakfast for two.

Report Check-In

Simple relaxing place, lagoon front, as described. Still $10Blz per person.

Report Check-In

Cost was 10 $US for one site (1 or 2 persons or 2 adults and 2 children in a truck). Still a great place to relax.

Report Check-In

Great camping place as previously described. Ask the owner about her cashew wine. 12Bz per bottle and worth every penny.

Report Check-In

This is a really quiet and peaceful place, good to relax. Earl and Nerie are a lovely couple and we enjoyed our time so much, we stayed three nights instead of only one. Nerie opens one of the guestrooms showers for us and we haven’t had a private bathroom since a while. Also the people in the village are very welcoming, we went for a walk and it started raining, so we were invited twice to villagers homes to wait for the rain to stop. We loved this place! 20,- BZ per night

Report Check-In

Earl is a very nice person. We paid 20BZ with electricity. The WiFi works great. It’s a very good place to camp. :) the lake is beautiful.

Report Check-In

Still 10usd for 2 in a minivan, perfect for a first night after crossing the border. Earl and his wife are very friendly and helpful! Good wifi and access to a room for bathroom and very hot shower. But don’t forget the mosquitos repellent for the sunset time, they’re pretty agressive, although they’re quickly gone after that..

Report Check-In

We spent one relaxing night at Earl and Nari's place. They are awesome hosts; very welcoming and friendly. We parked our van in the garden and could enjoy a hot shower and their - relatively - fast wifi. It is still 10 Belize Dollar pp pn.
They also have bird books for you to borrow als well as a canoe to rent for 40 Belize Dollar per day.

Report Check-In

down from the main road a 6km dirt road to the crocket tree place. the Jacana Inn is a small hotel and get a grassy field to camp. when we were there it was a little narrow muddy road /entrance because of high water from the river. she let us use the bathroom from a hotel room and this was hot shower. Wi-Fi (20BLZ$) per night. but trials was flooded so we can do nothing. only relax :-)

Report Check-In

nice place. very cheap and the people it's very good.

Report Check-In

Very nice place located right on the lake. Great host with a lot of local knowledge. myself, host Earl and an overlandrer couple from Belgium spend a better part of the night having a great conversation. Plenty of room for all kinds of vehicles, could be a problem when the water level is high. Paid 35 for a spotless room.

Report Check-In

Great safe and quiet place to camp right on lagoon. Very friendly owners were happy to welcome us. Paid $20 Bz total for the two of us. Clean bathroom and shower, decent wifi too. Food and cold drinks available as well as great conversation with Earl about the local history and resources of the area. Highly recommend a stop here. Nice evening breeze, with mosquitoes at sunset that went away once all dark.

Beautiful beautiful beautifulllll spot! What a great hosts. Incredible friendly. Good wifi, clean bathrooms. It's just a amazing place to relax. Every morning between 5:30 and 8:00 you can see some sea cows in front of you in the Lagoon. So many birds around. Just a great spot with the best hosts so far since our 16 month trip. They also have some rooms available for 35bd. Enjoy your stay!

Report Check-In

Very nice place with nice breeze from the lake.
The manatees are only in the lake during the winter when the water level is high.

Report Check-In

Earl and Nari were great hosts. The cashew festival is coming up and they took the time to educate us on the fruit and flower and even gave us some to sample! The parking is spacious with a great view of the water. We enjoyed some of the fastest wifi we have seen in awhile. They had solid grounded power - a rare find for us in the past few months. The tourist office said this time of year some of the best bird viewing can be done between the tourist office and the Jacana Inn. We paid $20 Belize a night for 2 people. They opened a hotel room and gave us bathroom and shower access. Nari was also nice enough to do our laundry at a very reasonable rate. We stayed 5 nights.

Report Check-In

Very friendly owners! They will open a room for you an you can use restrooms, shower and wifi. You camp just at the boarder of the lagoon. In the afternoon there is shadow from trees. In the morning we saw a lot of birds when we did a longer walk. In Town there are lots of Cashew Nut trees. We payed 20 B$ for two people.

Report Check-In

Nice place and nice owners. Worth it if you need a shower and wifi. Clean bathroom. Nice view on the lake.
We paid the entrance fee to the reserve but I doubt this is necessary as the guard insisted to have a donation rather than we pay the entrance fee. Then we did not get any receipt. Great place to see amazing birds.

Report Check-In

Quiet, awesome little place right on the water. Good internet and they'll open up a room for you to use the shower/bathroom.

Earl and his wife are really nice and treat you like welcome guests to their Inn and to Belize. They're also a wealth of information, with tons of awesome suggestions on travel in the country.

Lots of coconuts in the yard and you can wander a few yards to the water to fish in the morning..

$20bzd/night.

Report Check-In

Wonderful spot. Earl and Nari are incredibly gracious hosts. Great to talk to. $20 bzd per night per car, a hotel room opened up for use of shower et al, fast wifi, gorgeous views of lake with many birds, friendly kids and locals, clean level ground and coconuts! Great spot.

We apreciated for one night.

Beautiful spot and very nice owners. Also good value for money for 10 BZD per person with clean private bathroom, electricity and wifi at the site. For dinner we had home-cooked food (fish stew) which was good but a bit pricey with 12 BZD per person.

Report Check-In

Great spot! 10 BZ$ pp. Nice grassy area at the river. Nice people. Clean bathroom. Wifi signal is the best at the camping area (could stream Netflix in the car) Wifi Code: [Password removed by moderator.]

We parked on the grounds of the hotel and got stuck in the soft sand. Make sure you stay on the grass. Owner Earl and his family helped us dig out our van. Price for 2 people in a van: BZ$ 20, including the use of a hotel bathroom with towels. Good wifi.
We bought a bottle of cashew wine for BZ$ 12. Very nice. Crooked Tree is all about cashews.
Beware if you stay on a Friday or Saturday; young locals come to the lake at night to drink and play loud reggae music well into the night. Bring earplugs.

Report Check-In

10 bzd per person. we camped in the grassy area next to the hotel, with lake-view. lovely owners, they opened one of the room's bathrooms for us to use. beware of the ants! ;)
it's a lovely neighborhood and was very quiet at night.

Report Check-In

we parked on the grass beside the inn and were able to plug in. Paid 20BZD for two ppl and our truck. Confirm coordinates are wrong as it is across the causeway. when you come into village turn right at T junction and follow the signs. There are some Adirondack chairs on the shore under some trees. Neri and Earl, the hosts, very helpful. They sprayed around our truck when we commented about there being a lot of ants.
