Latest Check-Ins

Stayed one night with our RTT cost 600.
Took an afternoon boat trip to see the chimpanzees. Saw and heard lots of them as they feed them in the afternoon. Note that the park fee has increased to 500dalasi.

Report Check-In

Prices have increased to 600/800 without/with toilet, still includes breakfast which was very good.

Just an emergency parking space in the middle of a narrow parking lot. The food is mediocre. Clearly too expensive for that.

Beautiful setting!
Rooms 500/600 pp without/with bathroom, breakfast included!
Clean facilities, communal (cold) showers have great pressure!
WiFi is 50 per day and the usual on/off thing.
The boattrips always take a ranger of the NP aboard (he‘ll wait on the way), we did 2 trips. Entry to the NP is 150pp and dayticket. The 2 hours trip is 1500 for up to 3 people and the one in the late afternoon (leaving around 4pm) is best to see chimpanzees.
Food is extremely variable: normal dinner is 400 and okay, the buffet for 500 is cheap tourist crap to be avoided. Worst food we had! So if there are tourgroups, they don’t offer individual dinners and you‘re forced to that pasta-tomato-sauce-crap for 500. If we had knewn, we had cooked ourselves. Prices for drinks are fair. Breakfast is included and really good. Electricity was 24/7, cheap room has a fan.

Watch out, when ordering food! the food is very good, BUT they serve a buffet, when they have tourist groups. Buffet cost 500D / person, dinner 400d / person. We ran into a group buffet and it ended up to be the worst food we ever had in the Gambia, while was also totally overpriced: Pasta, Potatos, shredded chicken parts with an oily tomato sauce. Next day the dinner was served as a buffet, but for 400D and delicious and worth the money.
So, ask prior to ordering the food, what they will cook.
Beer is in the fridge, but the boss is not selling it. One of the employees is organising it and selling it to guests. Ask around to find him. The boss is not directing you to him.

Overall it is a nice place with reasonable pricings for accomodations and drinks as well as for excursions and you will find highly motivated employees and boat guides for the national park.

Only the Boss is grumpy and did not understand the principles of services and how to handle complains at at all.

As describe before, place for 2-3 cars (not trucks). Very secure place with friendly staff. Perfect place to make a boattrip-we made the 5hours trip…its long enough to see chimpanzees, hippos and crocodiles-if you are lucky:) and of course many different birds. For 5 people we paid 5000 Dalasi. The hotel is next to the village, so you get easily in contact with the very friendly people there. So it is not a lonely campingplace.

Good place to stay. We stayed in our rooftent, but there were also people staying in the rooms. Don’t know about the price for the rooms.
They made us a vegetarian meal, no problem at al. Just let them know you want to have dinner, and they will make some for you. Friendly staff.
There are showers and toilets in the back of the property, which you can use when camping there. It was a cold shower, but very welcome on the hot day :)

Camping 300D per person.
Dinner 400D per person.
Breakfast 200D per person.

4+ hour easy drive from Banjul, southern route, then north over new bridge at Soma, then east 1 hour to here. Camping is 250gmd pp, basic room is 350gmd pp, or 450 gmd pp with ensuite. Dinner is 250gmd, breakfast 100, plus drinks (even beer and wine). Power turned off around 3am until 7am. Mustafa and rest of the staff are very friendly. Lots of shade and hammocks to avoid the heat and chill out by the river. They also let us leave our Defender here while we visit park for a couple of days.
