Description

Office to hand in your vehicle permit before crossing the border.

It's hard to find, because it's inside the secured area where people from the USA enter Mexico. Park your vehicle before mentioned exit (it's a one-way street) on the left-hand side (taxis stand right) and request to go inside the checkpoint. Take a printed copy of your digital TIP and someone will escort you to your vehicle, check the VIN and take pictures. Next, it's back inside where you'll get a receipt.

Checking in to add you can park right in front of the building. We searched for a spot for a while and parked a couple of blocks away. The guy from the banjercito wanted to make pictures of the car and told us to bring the car anyway.

Here is a video describing the process for crossing from US to Mexico at Tecate: https://youtu.be/XXJUea4eHU0.
Super simple!

Parking is not easy if you’re not in a small car. I circled multiple times, went inside to get this exit stamp and turn in my tourist card, as y’all have suggested, and the Mexican customs agent said it’s not necessary. I even overheard him telling an American coming in that he doesn’t need to return it when he leaves either.
Waste of time.
You only need to come here to close out your TIP. No FMM/passport exit stamp required anymore.

We passed the border from the US to Mexiko on a sunday around noon. I am always super nervous with these kind of things and went well prepared with all the copies for the TIP. The guy at banjercito was super nice and helpful and pacient :) It didn’t take long and there where no other people.
We handed in a copy of passport, copy of car registration, copy of tourist card. Payed around 55$ fee and 200$ deposit for our 29year old chevy van.
So this went all super well but I think the guy at the immigration office overcharged us … we paid 1400 pesos (cash!!) for two and I just realised later that it should have been less! He said payment by card was not possible… although there was a card mashine. :/

Just crossed the border from Mexico to the US. First you need to drive to the red pin on the photo uploaded, get stamped out and get your tip cancelled. Only after that head to the entrance point a bit more on the east (marked in ioverlander as well). Super easy, fast and friendly border!

Had trouble finding it - changed OPs description. No wait, no hassle. We love small border crossings.

We did forget to get stamped out of Mexico and had to come back from the US to do that.

They close at 2pm on a Sunday. We have a sprinter and they took about 15 min to process the TIP reimbursement/cancellation. But there was a sign on the banjercito window when they were closed that said if you have a motorhome or boat to use the Otay crossing. Like others, we parked out front of the Aduana and walked into the secure area to the banjercito. Guards are helpful. We actually cancelled our TIP on our expiration day no problem. Once in line to cross, the US border control will take your fruits FYI.

If you leave Mexico and want an exit stamp and to cancel your TIP you have to stop here BEFORE you follow the signs of US border/San Diego.
We entered Tecate at the mex2 from the east and just followed the signs of the border crossing, stood in a line of cars for half an hour just to notice that you go directly to de US border and have no change to go to the Mexican migration and Aduana from there.

If you are going to exit México, you need to stop here to cancel your TIP. Streets are a bit narrow around here, we could only park our truck camper next to the Aduana gate, the security guard will help you. The process was fast, it's a calm border, it took us 15 minutes. Migración is right next to Aduana, stamp your passport with the Mexican exit stamp. Get back to your car and then you need to drive to the main street (Highway 2) and follow the Border Crossing signs in order to get to the US.

Parked on Mexican side and walked into no mans land through gate to banjerciti. Very nice but only one worker so took quite awhile. He took our sticker then back through gates to get TIP refund and stamp out at immigration

You need to keep the bank receipt for Turist Cards (25$ each) in oder to avoid paying again when you leaving Mexico... this is a big scam, when you leaving they call that exit fee.

We crossed the US border and then parked our rig past the curve, up the hill by bus stop. Walked to MX immigration to return our visas and have our passports exit stamp. Take your US passport so that you walk back to US side, through walk-path inside MX side to the right of MX gate. You'll have to check in again through US immigration. There is NO signs by US immigration to point you in the right direction. Mexican official was very nice and explained this US nonsense.

Office to hand in your tourist card and vehicle permit before crossing the border. Parking would be tricky for a larger vehicle.
