Road open and passable for now. (May 2019)
ROAD CLOSED TILL THE END OF DECEMBER.
Open from 19.00 till 6.00 and from 13.00 to 14.00

This road is open and passable by any vehicle. There are some very narrow areas, and meeting an oncoming car is a bit scary sometimes. But take it slow and bumpy and you can get to the ruins parking lot.

The teleférico was also closed this week, so we decided to drive up. Road condition was very good, at least in dry season. We went about 10-15 mph our class B RV. You don't need four wheel drive, just a lot of patience and focus. Most other drivers are courteous and take turns on the road, but there are a few impatient colectivos. You pass a few tiny villages on the way. A girl that lives in one told us that they are getting ready to pave...
Report Check-InThe cabins were out of service so I had to take the road.
Starting from Nuevo Tingo, the first 10km of the road to Kuelap are well maintained, after its full of putholes.
It took me 1h to get to the parking of Kuelap ruins (in motorcycle), if you can take the cabins it’s really worth spending 20s.
