Latest Check-Ins

We paid $6 per person and $2 to park overnight as stated on the receipts we received. It was dry season so 4x4 was not needed but we stayed in the grassy lot so we cannot comment on accessing site 2. We hiked to Cerro de Leon, roughly 4 hours in total which cost $10 for the guide (ended up being 5 of us so only $2 per person before tip).

Coordinates for the visitor center. There are 3 established campsites in the National Park. On campsite No. 2 you can camp in your car. Campsites 1 and 3 do not have area for vehicles to park. So you need to park at the visitor center and walk to the site and pitch a tent. Flushing toilets. BBQ, and palapas you can set your ground tent under. $6 USD per person a day plus $1 USD per vehicle a day. Accessing the park's visitor center may not require 4x4 but it may be needed to get in and out the campsites areas. During the rainy season it is muddy and slippery. 4x4 is highly recommended.

if you don't have a 4x4, take the semi paved road at the level of the second bridge after the auto hotel Real (it is on Ioverlander). during the rainy season we advice people with no 4x4 to either camp at the entrance of the park with rangers or to park there and walk with you gear to one of the 3 campground ( 5 to 15 min walk) in the park! you don't really need high clearance ( we have a Dodge caravan) but we didn't have enough traction to get out (as he rained heavily the night before, it is steep and a bit muddy)...we paid $13 per night for 2 included the entrance of the NP...hikes are simply gorgeous with amazing panorama on the canopy and possibility to swim in the river... access to toilet and water!!don't miss it!!!

Beautiful spot in a real national park! We stayed in the second camp in area (which is the only one you can drive into). We hiked to the mirador and did the Los Enganches hike to the river, which was awesome. $6 per person and $1 per vehicle. Well worth the awesome drive up but highly recommend 4x4, especially during the rainy season.
