Description

Great central spot next to a church and plaza.
Parallel parking, a bit bright but safe. Asked local police if it’s okay to stay overnight...no problem!
Paid toilets at the open food court at the east corner of the plaza.

Latest Check-Ins

We spent 2 nights here, very nice and safe ! There’s water at the station nearby. Quiet at night and close enough to the center. Very good option to visit Merida !

Report Check-In

This is a parking space for about ten passenger cars. Unsuitable for an RV of any size.

Report Check-In

A very good place, close to the centre and at night it was pleasantly quiet.

Report Check-In

Nice spot to camp and what we saw the best spot to camp in Merida.

Report Check-In

turned up on a Tuesday afternoon, was fairly quiet and i parked my transit van under a big tree. I ended up staying here for 3 nights. this location is perfect for exploring the city. walking distance to everything. the area is next to a plaza and they had on some kind of Xmas Market on the last day I was there. the area feels safe and is also well lit. you can get the free city WiFi too. no issues whatsoever ever, I'd happily have stayed a few more days. the plaza is quiet after about 10.30 -11pm until about 7am in the morning. just the background city noises throughout the night. try and get a spot under one of the trees, if you can't then grab any space and wait until the parking empties and then get a shady spot when everyoneelse has left. one of the better city spots I've found in a long long time.

We slept on the other street Calle 45 as there was a market there so no place to park.
Not the best night we had but good option to be near the center.

Wonderful location. Calm after 10 PM, central, secure (we even kept the upper side windows open because it was hot). 2 other campers were here as well.

buen lugar para pasar la noche, tranquilo y seguro.

Good place to be safe and central. Noisy but we are into the city

We really liked this place, we stayed maybe 5 nights but at different times as it was our base to visit the region. We met really nice people here. You have wifi from the city, water from the market and police patrol day and night.

Report Check-In

We have a 7.2m long camper, so the start of “big rig” category for iOverlander and we fit perfectly, and maybe an even longer might fit (max. 9m I’d say) there are only 2 spots for big rigs and they’re at the very beginning of the parking. On the other side of the plaza there’s the Cucurrucu pub who has music until 2 am but we could still sleep fine

Report Check-In

We slept here one night. There is an elder man helping you parking, and he is around until late, so we felt very safe here.
A few cars driving by during night, but all in all fairly quiet.

Back at this location again as I was passing through Merida. Again found a spot under the trees and still relatively quiet. There are cars that come and go, but nothing serious. Spot is still free with no hassle from anyone. Police drives by now and then but does not say anything. Safe and comfortable.

We stayed here two nights in our Kombi and parked under the tree closest to the food court. It was a great spot and really safe. No problems having the top popped. Fast wi-fi and toilets in the back of the food court. We also used the ones at the cafe called Bengala across the street. Some loud music in connection with Carnival, but ear plugs saved our sleep. The park was quite dirty with trash so we did a clean up to give a little back to the city.

These GPS coordinates worked very well for us. It’s a dead end street, on a plaza. It is ‘pull-in” parking (perpendicular to curb). Our 20ft camper van just barely fit (nothing bigger than a standard Transit or Sprinter). Could parallel park in front of row houses, but people live there. Be careful of the high curb, the only way we could fit was our tail just fit above the curb...and probably rested on it once we crawled into bed.

Free internet in plaza, 4 pesos for bathrooms behind restaurants.

There is a guy who watches the cars along here during the day, so we gave him a few pesos. Safe location...we walked to the main sights from here no problem.

Bike group organizes rides from plaza on Wednesday’s at 9pm.

Music from bar could be heard...

It appears the first person accidentally duplicated the street parking a few blocks away. However, we stayed at this exact GPS location and found it pretty suitable. We are 23' long and with not many cars here it was not too hard to park. The next morning, a Thursday, there seemed to be an event or maybe just the breakfast rush but cars were parallel parked along this little road which made it very difficult for us to exit. Power outlets are near some benches but not next to the parking. Recycling for paper, cardboard, plastic, and aluminum is here. It was safe and quiet. Free toilets if you go behind the little sidewalk restaurants into a market area, but they don't have toilet seats. Free WiFi and dog friendly.

Parque junto a capilla y mercado. Muy tranquilo, es calle cortada. Wi-fi excelente y gratis. Mucha sombra. Cerca del centro. Ideal para varios días.

Please ignore my previous comment...it’s for the other nearby street site.
