There is a small parking area at the end of the road in Tierra del Fuego Chile with great views into the bay with glaciers and snow capped peaks along the ocean channel. No amenities. Free. They have a sign saying there are penguins but we did not see any. Very beautiful, remote area.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
It is not allowed to camp at the beach anymore - sign no vehicles and no camping, private land. But you can camp in the official camp near the house. Don't know how much they charge as we did not stay.
Report Check-InStunning place. Worth the trip. Strong wind so no chance to crash with our tent. Owner (a doctor from PArenas) asked 20k for what he offered as a cabaña. Too much for what you get in return. There are view other places at Lago Fagnano. But we preferred the bushcamp at lago Deseado instead.
Report Check-InGreat spot. Only big enough for one or two vehicles, but hey it ain't like it is busy in these parts! It was interesting to see how many cars were actually making the trip out here to the end of the road on the Sunday we were here. No facilities, and nowhere to hide (if you pee outside!). Very worth the trip - the road is great quality and not nearly as troublesome as you might think. Plenty of beaver dams along the way. (side note: be careful to treat any water you drink from down here, as the beavers have introduced giardia into the rivers)
Report Check-InWe stayed here one night. There is no wind protection at all, we had a strong storm over night, so it was quite scary. There is something like a Campground 'caleta maría', but except of toilets there was nothing and also no real windprotection and the owner asks for a approx tip of 10.000 pesos. It's nevertheless a stunning place and worth to see, if you stay overnight more shelter give you some rows of trees directly on the street leading to the beach.
