It is a somewhat scratchy and quite steep road to get here so 4x4 is a must and we don't advise trying to get there when the road is wet.
But once you reach the turn you'll be regarded with amazing views. In the turn there is enough space to turn around and park, maybe even for two smaller vehicles.
The road leads down to the beach that you have to yourself in the morning and in the evening. Sunsets are stunning. One night the water was lit up from phosphorus algaes.

This place is still possible but some things have changed: the way down to the beach has been washed away completely. .We went down with the dog and its a bit of climbing as the remaining parts are very instable but on fact nothing big. Once you are there you have a beautiful black beach for your own. So you can no more drive down to the beach...only walk...parking only at the flat space...you will know when you see it. Since the entrance to the beach is washed away no more people seem to come to this place. Also the entrance is slowly taken back from the nature...but still possible ...We did it with 3.12 Hight and 2.06 width. At least at this time of year thousands hungry mosquitos.
Report Check-Inwe stayed here 4 days and absolutely loved it!! not very leveled, but you have the whole beach to yourself and the sounds of waves are your lullaby. no moscitos. if you don't want to risk the steep part you can camp a little bit more up on the estacionamiento. we took the bycicles to mompiche each day for surfing, beautiful road of lush green.
pretty perfect overlander spot.
Report Check-InHad no problems going up hill with our Ford F-350 truck camper. We had the black sand beach all to ourself. No facilities. no rubbish or stray dogs begging for food compared to Mompiche.
