Mexico
Parking at Zona Archaeological Chaccoben just behind the gate and before the entrance / fee station. No facilities (probably WC during opening hours). Flat area with space for big rigs. Not sure if they allow tents and pets.
We stayed with 2 RVs. Our friends arrived earlier and told a guide where they parked and that they were waiting for us and we would visit together the next morning. The guide didn't raise any objections. Around 5 pm we saw the staff leaving. They closed the gate (so make sure you arrive before that time). The night guard (?) came and talked to us. He said it was fine to stay for the night.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We came at 16.15, asked about overnight parking/stay..... were bluntly refused even with clear expression of our wishes to visit the ruins next morning.
We checked a few other places which looked promising on the maps (no luck). So, we spent a night at Pemex, just a few kilometers down the road (separate entry at iO database).
Report Check-InThere is a free WiFi station at the main parking a bit further down the road. The signal intermittently reached the place where we were staying but wasn't very stable.
