Status beginning of February 2022: we turned around with our 4runner, because of many flooded parts on the road (mud and deepish water pools on the road) after aprox 2km...dont know about the rest of the way to the termas
The Termas De Churiguaya is marked too in Openstreetmap. It has a small house where you can take a bath. Much nicer is the hotpod outside. It is free. There is a place to camp at a quarry in 40m distance with wind protection and fireplace. Be careful - you are at 4450m - your body can't handle hot water like at home ;-)
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Note that the "quarry" is rather a parking for those who are coming to enjoy the hotspring. So, be careful at night, you might be disturbed. We actually did. At daytime, there was not a single car but at night 3 cars passed through that road. We though it was curious. The last one, came to park. They were a bit chatting si we asked what was going on. They actually asked us to switched off our headlamp because they were hiding from the police...!! They said they were crossing with people without people. We didn't asked more and they finally left.
Report Check-Instill there. outside is very muddy, would not recommend. inside very nice, as described let the water in the pool and let it Cool down a bit. Outside you can regulate the waterflow. After using let the water out, there was a handwritten Message from the locals to let the water out and clean the pool....
Report Check-InWow! Perfect place. Our best bath since we are in Chile! Absolutely no one around, so peaceful there. The water inside the hut is very hot (more than 42 degrees I guess), but we really enjoyed it! Be careful, we don't all tolerate the heat the same way and it's at 4500 meters..!
Report Check-InGreat place for night. Partially wind protected. The outside hot pool have great temperature. Three cars passed during our stay. Fire pit and lot of firewood at the near by "parking lot" where we stayed for night. Accessible for all kinds of vehicles. No signal.
Report Check-InPool inside is too hot, not possible to go trought. Pool outside is ok.
Very nice!
Both pools are hot hot, too hot. We couldn’t get in. Maybe for night it is better. Clean except for some rubbish outside.
Report Check-InHot pool inside was empty but closed the exit with a bottle and voiloi!!! really hot!! more than Lirima but really nice, slept inside and no smell at all. Really nice place to spend a night. I cleaned the place a bit as it was a bit dirty.
Report Check-Inif you are used to sleep on the ground: the little house with hot tub inside is big enough to put 2 sleeping mattresses! no annoying smell, guess it's warmer inside at night
Report Check-InAn okey place to spend the night... Shelter from the wind nearby. But at our time of visit, the river had too less water for a bath.
Report Check-InDirty. And was too cold to take a bath (but can't complain too much, it's winter time now! ;) )
Report Check-Inlovely place worth a visit. probably better camping near the lake where it is more scenic.
Report Check-Innice place, hot pool outside is repaired. Inside pool had no water. You have to block the exit so it can gather, but even as bottled shower its really nice. Spent to days at the wildcamp. Almost no cars at all. Only the police passed by in the morning and in the evening . Didnt bother us at all. Just waved.
Report Check-InBoth outside and inside pools were hot when we were here. Blocked inside one with a stone to fill it up, not allowed but removed before we left! Hundreds of llamas around. Stunning drive which goes past some really cool ruins, which we also camped at, and then down into the valley. Not sure how accessible road would be in depths of winter - we got stuck down in valley for a day because of snow and had to dig ourselves out, uphill.
Report Check-InVery nice spot! The indoor pool is really hot. In Feb. 2016 the outdoor-pool has a leakage, so there was no water in it.
Report Check-InIf too hot, block the hot water intake to let the bath cool down a bit.
Report Check-InLove this place! A very quiet and beautiful rough camp. We loved the indoor hot pool especially -- it was a terrific way to get cleaned up prior to arrival at the Bolivian border. Take care to acclimatize -- the altitude here definitely got our attention. Also got down to below freezing at night, but still a wonderful campsite. Free.
