Description

Did you know the Mitad del Mundo isn’t really on the equator??? It’s about 200m off!

Come up here instead. There’s a tall metal sculpture at the top of a hill that marks the equator, this area is significant to the Incas. Come up this dirt road and look down into the valley and enjoy the view. We thought that this was a great alternative to the tourist trap in the valley.

Probably could camp here too.

The marker on ioverlander makes it look like this sculpture is closer to the smaller road, but it isn’t. It must be on the main road connecting to Quito because we did not find it on our way to Mindo
