Outdoor camping with a great overlanding spirit by the owners.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
We zien jullie graag @ MAKA! Groetjes Guido & Nancy Smeets
Situated at a superb location in a bend of the Samois river. Modern ablutions, friendly, helpful owners. Good walks from the campground, kayak possibilities. Terrace setup gives good river view from almost all sites. Water supply being improved, but not yet at drinking water level according to Belgian standards. Sites with own electricity and water. Bar, restaurant, small shop with fresh bread.
Report Check-InNice but very expensive campground, run by Dutch family. I paid about €30 for 1 person and a landcruiser per night.
They have designated areas for tents and campers, and they also offer a small area in the very back of the grounds to 'wildcamp', as they call it. No water, electricity or lights there, but it is directly at the river and relatively quiet. You can see the beavers swimming from your campingchair! Ablutions and reception are 400 m away. Only 2-3 places, though, so book ahead if you want to camp in that area.
The other areas were very busy and noisy when I was there (4 nights), but everything quiets down at around 22:00.
Staff was nice, but could be a bit more helpful. Ablutions were clean and good. Half closed because of COVID-19, though.
They offer a lot of outdoor-ish activities for children, and the river is nice, though very shallow. Open fires are allowed (only in a bowl!), and you are allowed to gather local wood, or you can buy it at the reception.
Extremely poor cell phone reception, except at the reception. Wifi very expensive. Nice little shop and daily fresh bread.
