iOverlander cannot verify if wild camping is permitted at this location. It is your responsibility to verify local laws or obtain consent before staying the night.
MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Signs posted and enforced
It is illegal to camp overnight along a county road in Island County, WA and that is what this is. Campers can stay in the state and county parks in the island that have amenities. This beach is day use only. Sheriff will ask you to move - if they have time and if it is reported that you are camping.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Our observation is that this spot became so over run that locals and law enforcement reclaimed this beach for local day use only. Don’t try to camp here. It is not legal.
Report Check-InBeen here many times and we love it! Had a fairly condescending woman tell me it’s illegal to park overnight and her and her local friends are working to get the authorities including a prosecuting attorney (seems a bit excessive and I’m sure if it was actually illegal it would be easier to have a county cop put up a sign) to get no parking signs as she claims people have been leaving a lot of trash and emptying their toilets (ew don’t do that??) I have not seen much trash but let’s clean up and make sure to be super respectful it would be a bummer to see the only free spot on the island closed.
Report Check-InNot really a campsite and barely an overnight site. Really it's a sloping gravel shoulder with a good view. It was very busy even mid week. It had the feeling like a 'no overnight parking' sign is not far away. Some sketchy vibes as well. Unmarked police looking car with light bar and no words seemed to patrol just after dusk and it felt weird.
Report Check-InWhat a gem! We arrived early in the day, but decided to stay and relax. The hike has a great view of the coast, and it was pretty easy. There were quite a few vans parked overnight as well. The bathrooms near by were NICE and fully stocked, what a bonus!
Report Check-InAn epic place to spend the night. Take care of this spot everyone, it’s one to be thankful for on this island. Enjoy!
Report Check-Instunning sunsets. i had the whole place to myself after dark. very peaceful.
Report Check-InThis is a spot that you dream of when living off grid. We didn't see any trash around which makes me hopeful it will remain a valid spot!
Report Check-InBeautiful spot right by the beach, not so clean pit toilet but it’s open. Fell asleep with a couple other vans and trucks, woke up alone. Nobody bothered us!
Report Check-InLong row of beach parking. Super peaceful. Verizon has 3 bars service, and was enough to take video conference calls.
Report Check-InAwesome spot for the night. Right off the side of the road but there is little traffic. a few other people stayed the night here with us as well so it felt right. According to OnX Hunt, this land is a national historical reserve. Recommended.
Report Check-InI'm obsessed never leaving here. jk but seriously so peaceful, bathroom close by, Gorgeous sunset walk along ebey's bluff trail, no issues spending the night.
Report Check-InWe stayed there in a VW Eurovan Camper. We had a great stay but mixed feeling.
The rangers told us it was fine to camp there but a local had told us that there was a chance the police would ask us to move.
We took our chance anyway and had a peaceful night. The view on the sea and Olympic NP is breathtaking. There is a hike that offers nice views as well. You need to park on the side of the road and not the parking lot. You cannot stay overnight in the parking lot and need a permit to park there.
They have a toilet (not flush) that you can use and with the covid-19 it is super clean.
In terms of cellphone coverage, AT&T was good, sprint was not.
We only spent a night and I would not spend more than a night or two. There are no sign forbidding camping but none saying your can either.
Nice spot on the shoulder of the road. Plenty of room and right on the water. Not much traffic after dark, locals walking dogs in the morning. Really cool area, lots of farms on the road out. About 5 minutes from the ferry.
Report Check-InA good spot because waterfront free camping is hard to find. Lots of locals are here at dusk and dawn. Watch out for the drop off I fell down it at night walking around my truck lol.
Report Check-InGreat low key spot. Parked my van and trailer here. Not recommending it for large busses because of a steep tight curve. Nice beach for walking with your dog.
Report Check-InBeautiful spot next to the beach to spend a night. There was about 5 other vans parked along the strip of road. Woke up to quite a few locals who came in the morning to fish along the beach
Report Check-InAmazing spot to stay! Keep it clean and enjoy the ocean and the nice walk!
Report Check-InFantastic ! Ocean view, ocean waves and wind!
A mix of locals and visitors ... popular at sunset then it thins out and is quiet after 11pm ... it’s a road with a gravel shoulder that has a drop off to the beachh 3 - 4 feet that runs along the beach ( be careful if coming late at night ) . It’s fairly level ( we used level-ing blocks on the ocean side with awesome views ... a few cars and trucks overnight ... we slept well 🚐
Report Check-InBeautiful spot. We were lucky enough to be there on a clear day and the sunset was stunning. There were 3 other vans/rvs there that night and everyone cleared off quite early the following morning.
Report Check-InBeautiful serene spot, waves lull you to sleep. Great views, clean pit toilet with hand sanitizer.
About 5 other vehicles and campers stayed overnight, no traffic after sunset.
Slept here one night and it was still just as described! NOT big rig friendly (road isn’t wide enough)(sorry)!
Report Check-InPulled up late to a half dozen like-minded booneockers already bunkered down for the night. lovely view by the moonlight, can't wait to catch see it in the daylight.
Report Check-InThis is an awesome place to park for the night. We’re in a 24 ft. RV and we were still able to extend our slide out and have about 2 ft. clearance to the fog line. The roadside is used for parking for walking the beach and fishing and also for folks who don’t want to pay for entry into Ebey Landing State Park. (Which is itself an awesome place). Yes, crowded during the day, quite at night. There are NO signs that say ‘no parking ‘ and we noticed cops who drove right by us. The view can’t be beat! We parked here because the state parks were both full on a Saturday night but I’ll definitely choose this place again even over the parks!
Report Check-InWe had a wonderful night here. A park ranger and a cop drove by but they didn't care.
We saw wales and a sea lion.
Tempting to stay, but parking here is restricted at night as this is a Historic Reserve and, therefore, part of the National Park system. Wonderful daytime hangout.
Report Check-InGravel pull off on side of beach - we stayed for 2 (non-consecutive) nights and had no issues. Beautiful spot with great views. Verizon & AT&T worked well here.
Report Check-InA lot of day/fishing traffic but it’s slow and not loud at all. Very quiet at night. Spent 2 nights here. Great view right on water.
Report Check-InPark on the side of the road here where there is room to pull off on the gravel. Right on the beach and also right on the road although there is little traffic and almost none at night. Very low-key. There's a pit toilet at Ebey's landing a short walk over to the parking lot, not sure if they lock it at night. I wouldn't try to stay in the parking lot as it says it's open to dusk. Discover pass needed to park there. Stayed here the past two nights and at least a dozen times, always quiet. I have seen people stay here in RV's. 4G with Verizon. Excellent hike at Ebey's landing.
