Many people crash in this parking lot at night. Legally, you need to have a boat trailer to park here and there is a risk of a ticket, but it isn't heavily enforced. I have parked here several nights... It's very quiet here and good sleep. I think the best strategy here is to leave early in the morning and head back to Fiesta Island or other places. It's right next to the big empty Sea World parking lot. There are always at least a dozen RVs and car campers here each night. There is also the street near here where I got my only ticket so far in San Diego.
Be very careful if you have a dog. There is a hefty fine for dogs in this area.

Chose not to stay overnight. As in most San Diego areas, signs everywhere saying no overnight parking between 2 am and 6 am. So a citation may be issued at the discretion of parking enforcement. Very decent public restrooms and a free dump station! I saw several seedy rigs with questionable inhabitants that seem to be living in this lot. Stay overnight here at your own risk.
