South Africa
Kruger NP, Skukuza. Largest camp in the park. Not the nicest but has all the facilities. Free wifi in the restaurant as well. Price was 204 Rand per night for 2 persons and a car including electricity. (wildcard discount). caravan power adaptor needed for power outlets
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Maybe better to avoid week-ends here, as it is the biggest and most popular of the campsites for day visitors. We got very loud neighbors, some were shouting at night and some others were putting some loud music like if they were in a discotheque. I had to yell at those guys to turn off there "DJ equipment"... Seriously in what world are we living ?
Beside that, there are not enough toilets. 2 at the men's for more than 100 campers ... Not the best of Kruger.
As informed, the place is huge but it didn’t feel crowded. Ok toilets and camping site. There is a fuel station and shop inside that you can buy almost anything you need for not such higher amount.
My only complain is missing any king of lights. But a far price for a national park accommodation.
Ps: Road from Skukuza to Lower sabi is closed so plan to take about 2 hours to get from um place to another.
The biggest camp in Kruger. Has all the facilites and some nice and shady spots. However, the campsites are all close to each other and the campsite in general is quite a small area. Pool is also quite small, but nice. No washing machines in laundy atm and didn’t find them anywhere, so that’s a minus. Don’t miss the best restaurant: the Kruger Station! The main road to Lower Sabie is closed at the moment (due to collapse damage in 3 different points), may take a while to repair. If you want to go to LS, you’ll need to use the road near Tshokwane. That limited thr game drives a bit atm. Good Vodafone 3G reception.
Report Check-Inthere's a bath for kids. you must have a caravan power adaptor to use the power outlets at the campsite. they charge 280 Rand at the shop better to buy it somewhere outside the park lots of animal noises at night very nice
Report Check-InAfter the previous 3 camps in the Kruger, Pumba, Tsendze and Balule this was a shock to the system! Soooo many people, insufficient ablutions and a small pool for the amount of campers here! Washing machines have been taken out of the laundry! Not the best for us, sorry
Report Check-InBusy place, but was actually very quiet at night. though loud at 5am, when everyone packs up to leave :)
No checks coming in or out about reservations and spaces are not marked. if you were on a tight budget, it might be worth considering ;)
Great cell phone reception !
Very large campsite and yes it was crowded. But there are many nice shaded spots. There are two restaurants in this camp and apparently both are very good. Great 4g with Vodacom.
Report Check-InIt was crowded just like the other Kruger campsites.
R485 for two adults and two children.
Huge camp with bungalows and campsites, restaurants, bar, shop etc. - everything you need. Clean, but not really nice. For 1 night okay, to start an early morning drive in the park.
Report Check-InZAR380 for two persons camping. Facilities are tired and basic maintenance and upkeep of the camp is lacking. Overall, very commercial and if wanting to stay in the park and hear the animals call at night, then perhaps, otherwise we recommend Kiaat Campsite for better value at a lower rate (see that Check-in) on the Park side of Hazyview and take or make day trips into the Park.
Report Check-InThis was a good stop in Kruger. We secured a spot that day. Shade was hard to come by, but there was a pool for cooling off. Good jumping off spot for an early game drive. We saw a large lion pride not too far from camp.
Report Check-InCampsite was quiet; lots of camp spots to choose from. Nice ablution. Good game viewing in this area
Report Check-InPeople come here to have fun. That said, the ablutions are very clean and the facilities are impressive. Pools, great restaurant and fantastic shop, with cheap price for food and normal for souvenirs. When it’s high season, like now, the unmarked campsites become very strange, because you must find a way to fit among lots of campers and caravans. People don’t care if it’s late or not, they just wanna have fun.
Report Check-InI agree that this place is more like town, not a camp in the National Park.... golf, 2 swimming pools, petrol station, restaurant, shop, 200 dorms, 2 big fully booked campgrounds with newest Porshes, BMW, Mercedes... not at all experience of the nature and wilderness. Very sad!
Report Check-InNoisiest camp in Kruger. We parked up near some fixed tents the guests using them were very noisy. The staff quarters are nearby and they played loud music until late and it wasn’t even the weekend. Not the bush experience we were expecting. Otherwise usual SAN parks facilities. Much prefer Maroela and Balule.
Report Check-InTook a chance to get a site. Although very full they gave us a spot. Just keep asking nicely. Spent quiet night until many left early to go see the wildlife. Huge curio shop with some groceries. Our game drive was amazing.
Report Check-InPrice still R305 for 2 and car.
Big, with all the facilities.
But.......no monkeys 😉.
Good hame spotting in the area.
Large camp, R305 per site, very busy, pensioner discount available. Power and water on site. Choose own site.
Report Check-InVery large and busy SAN parks campground. All the facilities but feels more like you are in a town than the bush.
