Free, quiet, amazing. Firewood, canoes, life vest, shelter and a volunteer host. Great place.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
15 beaux terrains gratuit avec un don volontaire et en plus le bois est gratuit
Pas pour les motorisés de plus de 30’
Think theres still free firewood. Limited sites close to lakefront. Took 11, still some mozzies and flies. Quite a distance to toilets. Almost full on sunday evening, only one site left
Tbh a bit underwhelming after rave reviews because chances are you are most likely not to score a lakefront site, and be just in forest. Lake is marshy and not clear and the parking area boat ramp area was completely crammed with trailers and pickups
Report Check-InFree camping, free firewood, and free canoes on a beautiful lake full of Northern Pike. Private sites with some on the lake.
Report Check-InGreat US Fish and Wildlife Campground. Very clean pit toilets, canoes, paddles and life vests. Garbage cans. Donation requested, please leave something to keep this resource open!
Report Check-InJust as everyone has described, absolutely gorgeous free site with amazing amenities. We were lucky there was a bit of wind which kept the mosquitoes down, but the hosts said they had been getting bad the last couple days. Went for a canoe paddle on the lake and saw a moose with 2 calves!
Report Check-InI’ve been coming to Deadman Lake for twenty years. It was one of our secret waterfowl hunting spots. It was roughing it Alaska style. If this campground was anything but what it is I’d probably not be happy about it, this campground is everything a campground in Alaska should be… Wild and free. Please donate.
Report Check-InThis is a great place! No fees, free wood, free canoes, paddles and life vests. I wish this was near San Diego.
Report Check-InVery nice as already stated. One of the nicest we have used on our travels. Site 11 was so perfect. And it’s free.
Report Check-Instill open on September 20.
great spot!
one mile off the road, but on a well graded gravel road
Awesome spot. Nice spots close to the lake. Unfortunately no canoes available at this time. Still a great spot for the night.
Report Check-Invery nice, lots of beavers and pike in lake.
38ft fifth wheel fit no problem.
Road in is a bit narrow so you wouldnt want to meet another rig coming towards you if you both cant back up!
15th sept 2019 and host is still here with the free canoes.
The host is volunteer so i guess after a particular date they can stay as long as they want. Probably when it gets too cold the host leaves and the free canoes gets knocked on the head for the season.
Great place to stay super quiet and good size lots and pit toilet close
Report Check-InNow this is a magical place you should plan to stop at.
Thanks to the hosts.
Nice, welcoming and free campground. Free wood and free canoes (with safety vests).
Pit toilets never smelled as good as those ones.
The first 6 sites are in the lake/canoe/boat ramp area and the last 4 are are at the entrance (close to hosts, wood and shelter). 3 to 5 sites are in the forest.
There’s a 1/4 mile discovery trail.
No more ranger talks due to staff shortage.
There’s a day use area if you just wanna stop by for lunch and/or use the canoes.
Report Check-InNice free campground! Even though it’s Smokey from the fires it’s way better then the last camp spot. Great views and less flies. Pit toilet and trash.
Report Check-InGreat place, clean bathrooms.
15 sites available, different sizes - far from each other, so lots of privacy.
Besides the lake they also have interpretive walk, on a nicely done boardwalk.
Report Check-InReally nice campground with firepits, toilets, shelter. Stayed here for one night. It’s free but you can donate.
Report Check-InSuch an awesome spot! No volunteer this time of the year though, so no canoes available. Great spot. Surprisingly clean pit toilets. We got to see the Aurora Borealis and it was awesome! No light pollution in this area. Mosquito territory.
Report Check-Ingreat free sites on lake with free kayaks available, fire rings, tables, volunteer host
Report Check-InGreat spot! Nice views and a lake with some canoes. Everyday at 7pm there is a talk from the staff. Toilets are very clean. No cell phone reception.
Report Check-InAs described perfect place ! It’s like any usual state park (fire ring, tables, sites ) expect that it’s free and you even get free firewood and free canoe if you want to take a tour on the lake! Thanks for this gem!
Report Check-InFree, quiet, amazing. Firewood, canoes, life vest, shelter and a volunteer host. Great place.
