Description

It`s very cool place in Petrozavodsk (Karelia). Nordcamping is a large campground for the caravans as well as tents with comfortable conditions for travelers. Good prices and very hospitable staff!
Near the shore of Lake Onega with its harbor and boats,
Quite close to the embankment and other attractions of the city, on the campsite you can eat delicious homemade food.
An unforgettable experience for me))

Latest Check-Ins

We found this marvellous place on the Net. It was our first visit to Nord camping so we didn't know what to expect. But it turned out just PERFECT!!!!!!!
Besides it is the only camp site in Karelia that is worth staying at. We found just a few other camping sites in the Republic of Karelia and they were awful and dirty.

So back to the story: There were six of us- two families and two caravans. The camping is situated within 15 minutes distance from the city centre in a quiet place surrounded by trees and park. The facilities met our expectations: hot water, new showers, WC, place to wash the dishes, fridge to keep food for free, electricity, water to fill the tank, everything is clean and in good maintenance. There is a big tent on the camp site where we used to have dinners. The owner of the camping (I believe his name is Dima) was very friendly and hospitable to us (he even cooked pancakes with the bear meat (he is a hunter and organises hunting in the north district of Karelia) and served us a nice dinner in the open-air. That was wonderful experience. We have never tried bear meat before :))
Our main destination was Kizhi and it was such a good luck that camping is around 7 minutes on foot from the port where the boats departure to Kizhi. Apart from that, the executive director of the camping (her name is Julia) was so kind to book tickets for us, so we didn't have to go to the port and try our luck with tickets for the date we needed. I would give the camping 100 points.
The staff was very helpful, and tried to solve all the issues we had (one of the camper got broken and they called the service, explained our problem and showed us the way). They also gave us advice about places to visit, restaurants, etc. It is like we were visiting our relatives in Russia haha)).
There was one negative side though... It had been raining cats and dogs the day we arrived. But it has nothing to do with the camping.
If we ever cross Karelia again, we know where to stay :))
