Latest Check-Ins

for those (like us) who wonder, it's not possible to drive up to the campsite without a 4x4, even in dry season. with our motorhome we had to stop halfway from the main "road" and spent the night in the valley, close to the track. still nice, and probably less windy than the campsite ;)

Report Check-In

Decent campsite, eventhough it’s rain season, the rangers at the HQ said it was no problem for us to stay there. Road was muddy, but no problem with a 4x4.

Other men staying at the camp were pretty aggressive towards us, we’re not sure if they were rangers or locals working on the road.

No wolves at the campsite, but we saw one driving to the highest mountain of Bale.

Report Check-In

Old research center where you can park your car where you want. They have a pit toilet, but nothing else. It really gets cold at night. We had ice on the inside of our tent. So be prepared. You can do some hikes around the area to spot the wolf. You are either lucky or not. We didn’t see the wolf, maybe due a huge fire which burned a few hectares coming up Bale Mountain.

we stayed for one night! walked around before sunset and in the morning about 6:30 with sunrise! Nice sky with sunrise and sunset!!! We spotted both times the wolve! in the morning it seemed that he was looking for us and stared at us 5 m away 😀 ( yes he is ethiopian as well 😋)
we just followed the trail going straight, there are two lakes you can reach by yourself within 20 min one way! may be you are lucky as well! just walk around on the plateau

Report Check-In

You camp on a small plateau with a nice view to some small lakes and the Konteh Tulli. During the night it becomes very cold, but the sun in the morning is strong enough to make it confortable. We saw ethiopian wulfes around, also nyalas. You can make short hikings to the lakes around the campsite.

Report Check-In

Camp was close due to rainy season. But we ignored the sign at the road and drove to the campsite. There were some people, who slept there (we think goat or cow herders). They were friendly, we parked a little bit away from the buildings and they left us alone. Great place to stay, also saw the Ethiopian wolf! 😉

Campsite at 4100m on the plateau. Nice surroundings, hike of1 hour one way to a nice lake, take a guide from the campsite. Very good spot to see the Ethiopian wolf in the morning.

Be aware that it is very cold at night and in the morning, so come prepared.
