Description

Nestled in the Pastaza Canyon in front of Tungurahua Volcano, this is the perfect place to get away from the town of Banos, but close enough to be accessible. Along with the many fruit orchards available for the picking you can enjoy the relaxing sounds of the river from a hammock and the amazing views of the highlands.

Fantastic pleace, very quiet, all you Need is there
Ok for vehicles 6,5 m long

Report Check-In

One of the best campsite in Ecuador. Next to the river, green, clean and beautiful. Highly recommended……

Report Check-In

Lovely surroundings, nice owner! So relaxing and good wifi, we decided to stay 2. Good cooking facilities in outdoor kitchen!

Report Check-In

great place with a perfect service, road a down to the place is not easy

Report Check-In

really ideal place to stay. perfect grassy area and beautifull environment. steep but good path down, we did it with our sprinter van. easy 5 km
walking to town. highly recommended! $ 5 pp/pn, possible to have a breakfast, we didn't do it so do not know the costs.

Yes! Wonderful camping! We came to stay two nights, and we stayed five.
Still 5usd per person per night. Full kitchen, hot bathrooms (sometimes it got cold), water and electricity.
The only inconvenience was that the owner made us change places with the car to water the grass - that we know that it is not always an easy task when talking about roof tent 😅 Watch out for insects: we found spiders and scorpions around here.
__________

Sim! Camping maravilhoso!

PERFECT SPOT!

Yes, the road down to the camping area is a little steep and treacherous, but my Kombi had no issue getting down. Kitchen, bathroom, showers, water, electricity, hammocks, fruits directly from the tree, river, tranquility. What a good spot. It’s only $2 in a taxi to town, it’s 5$pp per night. Not many spots as good as this one

Report Check-In

We had two nice weekend evenings here. Clean covered kitchen with stove, table and running water at the sink. Electricity available. Clean bathrooms and shower with tankless hot water. Beautiful river below provides a view and white noise. Other than that, completely quiet day and night. No other travelers around…rainy season.

Paid $5 pp per night. Would stay again.

Report Check-In

Very nice place, large grassy and green area, directly above the river.
Small cooking area and hot showers. 5Usd pp/pn
We stayed for 2 nights and during this time, nobody came to clean the bathrooms or empty the garbage. Maybe because it was during the weekend.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet, as described below. The road down is relatively easily doable with our truck (7.5m, see photo l) just had to cut a few branches.

Report Check-In

Stayed 4 days. Very nice and relaxed place. Large grassy field with beautiful garden en citrus fruit trees, avocados and bananas which you can take when ready. Abby and Carmen are super friendly and helpful. 45 min walk to town center. 10 min by taxi ($3)
Super clean bathrooms, hot shower!! Cooking facilities and free water to take.
$10 for 2 persons, van and dog.
Do try the homemade pizza or hummus platter!!
Coming from banos entering is fine. Coming from west might be tight turn. It’s steep but we managed it with 2WD Peugeot Boxer (similar Fiat ducato/RAM pro master) 6m long.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for 10 days. Had a great time learning to paraglide in the area! The campsite down by the river is beautiful with views of the mountains surrounding the valley. Great price and free cooking facilities - as well as avocados and citrus fruits on the trees, if you catch them at the right time!

Report Check-In

Perfect place to stay a couple of days! Walking distance to Baños. Abby was even doing some laundry for us! Highly recommend!

Report Check-In

What a beautiful place. we came here and met Barbara, Robert and Christoph from Germany. we had a really nice little long-distance travel meeting here. the place is just excellent. there is a small kitchen, space for tents and larger vehicles can also park here.

Report Check-In

super peaceful down here. no crowing roosters, no dogs barking, no fireworks or loud music. no one came down, not even Carmen, the whole 3 days we were here which was great for us. I'm just checking in to add a couple of small details.

there is a very sharp hairpin on a steep hill getting down to the grassy area at the bottom. we had to do a 3 point turn to get around that probably wouldn't be possible with something over 8m but otherwise no size restrictions (there is a place to park up on the hill, but you will have to walk down to the camping area from here). at this time the stove/oven is not working. we were told by Carmen, who speaks some English, that the showers would be so hot we should be careful, they were not. I found the heater on the back wall had been turned all of the way down and ask I turned them up and had very nice showers. I was also hoping to fill our water tank here but with our TDS tester the water was at 268ppm so we did not fill here. they offer potable water in a jug though. we also didn't see any scorpions around, and I was looking. 2 dollar taxi from the neighborhood around the corner were easy to get as it's about 4km to the center of Baños from here.

Report Check-In

This place is amazing! The views are stunning. So peaceful. Beautiful flowers. Fruits you can pick from the trees. The sound of the raging river below. Perfect temperature for camping (at least in July) - warm during the day and cools down at night. It is in a canyon so there is a lot of wind.

There are hot showers, two bathrooms and a sheltered kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a stove and fridge. There’s also a microwave, but we couldn’t get it to work.

We paid $5US/person/night. Planned to stay for two nights, but ended up staying for three!

If you have young kids or dogs, be aware there are scorpions that hide in the nooks and crannies in the kitchen and that the drop off to the river is a steep cliff.

Report Check-In

Nice place close to Baños. Grassy flat area near to the river where you can park. Nice view and a nice walking area around. Also nice to walk to the town if you like. Carmen is really sweet en welcoming. We got tasty bananas, avocado and mandarines from the garden. Also a lot of lemons. Shower with hot water, toilets, fully equipped kitchen to use, barbecue, fridge and so on. Luxury camping, very nice!

Report Check-In

We really enjoyed our stay here. Perfect setting next to the river, inside the canyon. Level grassy area, which we loved. Bathrooms are clean. If you want electricity, you’ll need to park closer to the kitchen area.

Only issue was the bathrooms. It seems the camping showers are warm-ish and nothing is being done to make them hot. We were offered to use the shower in the cabin next door, which is HOT. However, if someone is using the cabin, you may not be able to use the shower.

Also, it’s a steep path down to the grassy area. Our RWD Ford Transit did it, but we worked it. If you have a heavy FWD van (Promaster/Ducato) you may want to park by the roadside and walk down to assess. Especially if it’s rainy season.

Beautiful views. Would stay again.

this place is heaven on earth. google will try to take you down a one way street just go with the flow and follow the road and you will end up where you need to be. this place is so nice and the hosts go out of there way to make your stay fantastic. Access was a breeze. really big rigs should walk it out first and decide. this place is perfectly located and couple that with great hosts. we will stay an extra night or two just to listen to the river and relax before heading on.

Report Check-In

Excelent place for camping and medium size RV’s. All facilities for support the camping. Owners are very friendly and they are aware of all details. Super recommended.

Report Check-In

If you're in front of a colonial house close to a bridge (with a sign "Abby's Hideaway") but with nobody there, you need to continue down the road (further from Baños) and take a left, steeply down.

The place is a large, grassy, level field about 50 meters higher than the fast flowing river that provides a lot of sound (to drown out man made noise). Kitchen, fridge, table, chairs: a nice shelter. Bathrooms, hot shower. Drinking water, electricity (110V), all included.

Abby (caretaker) is an amazing hostess, Carmen (owner) is more reserved (or insecure about her English). But together, they've built a place for overlanders and it shows they care.

We came in for one night, stayed four.

Price was 5 USD per person per night.

Report Check-In

Great place along the river , bathrooms , showers clean and friendly. Little bit out of town so have supply’s. Taxis available

Report Check-In

Stayed here for a night with friendly Abby and Carmen. Beautiful place by the river, you get to listen to the water rushing by.
Nice cooking area provided and clean toilet/shower with hot water. We were treated to avocados off the trees.
The road down to the campsite is very steep so don’t attempt with a big rig.
We paid $10 for 2 in a truck camper.

perfect basecamp to explore the area. Fast wifi, kitchen and hot showers. Short walk to Banos or a 5 minute drive. Several nice trails off the property as well. Amazing hosts. Planned on a few nights and I stayed 2 weeks. Road from banos is paved and easy getting here as well.

Report Check-In

Nice place but we probably got there in the wrong moment. As we arrive late at night no one was there but the were info that you could enter and find a place, so we did. At that camping space there were more information regarding the place, one of them being keep the kitchen clean which we didn’t find that way nonetheless we clean so we could cook, next morning a lady called Carmen showed up, but didn’t explain really much about the place then left so we kind of learn ourselves were the exterior lighting is figured out how the internet works which didn’t work that day, the lady mention is because the whether, then as we urgently needed internet to upload our blog we mentioned that we couldn’t stay, then we paid one night but the person said that we had two paid two nights as we stayed all day, then we went to explain that in most places the camping charged is for 24hrs, well despite that the place is perfect: great kitchen, drinkable water, clean toilets nice view, we felt that the lady was not the most charming one even though we speak spanish , fortunately we got to talk via WhatsApp with Abby which was at the states at the moment we explain the situation and she was the nicest and apologizing on her behalf, so we are sure if she is around the experience will be nice.

Report Check-In

This is the place to be when stopping in Baños. The campground is located right by the river, and has everything you need. clean amenities, great kitchen area, and hammocks with a great view of the river. But most importantly, Carmen made sure we had a great time. She offered laundry service and even took us food shopping in Baños and showed us where to get what. Carmen can pretty much answer all your questions. She even organised for my dad and I to go white water rafting.
All in all: great campground, great service, and great hosts! :)

I think its one of the best paid campground in Ecuador, Abby is great friendly person, the sound of the river, clean hot showers, full kitchen, plenty of space, close one of the most touristic place in Ec, i mean what else you need? it works just well for us. Power and net too, but thats not that important, when im around i will be here. Abby thank you. The road to campsite its good for small cars like we are, no idea for big rigs never drive that.

Report Check-In

Didn't meet Abby but met Carmen. The place is gorgeous with good WiFi connection. Just to be clear though it's a minimum 40 minute to the actual town through a nasty windy road with no path. Based on previous check ins we thought it would be closer. Still a beautiful place to stay but maybe in hindsight we'd have gone closer to town. I guess cabs would be cheap though

Report Check-In

Beautiful location just outside of Banos ($2 taxi). $10 for two people and camper. Great wifi. Steep entrance but we were OK with 6.3 length and 3.3m height. Difficult to find but look just beyond hostel for road entrance on left (coming from west).

Report Check-In

Nice place.
Wonderful nature
Difficult acces for a rig of 7 mtsx 2.50 x 3,70
I think it is overpriced: 5 USD per person per night.
Wifi : OK

Report Check-In

Grassy camping area, functional kitchen and clean bathrooms, hot showers available. Right next to the river, loved it. WiFi strong, cheap taxi ride to town. Abby is a very kind person, she gave us some avocados from her tree the day of our arrival, and she sells beer as well, always convenient. Pet friendly.

Abby and Carmen have a great space for camping. Clean baths. Full equiped kitchen. 5 USD ppn. In the camping lot they have a house with rooms for rent. I stayed 12 days. It was one of the best campings I've been in Ecuador

Report Check-In

Beautiful spot about 30 minute walk to town or 2dollar for a taxi. Fab location overlooking the river. Very relaxed yet professional atmosphere. Abby was super hospitable. Fabulous gardens laden with fruit and veg. Rooms available. We loved this spot.

Report Check-In

Everything here was amazing! Abby and Carmen go above and beyond. The wifi was fast. The kitchen and bathroom facilities were great, plenty of hot water. The location is perfect to escape the noise of town. A great private spot on the river. I will recommend Abby's Hideaway to all my friends.

Report Check-In

We stayed here 5 nights. For us, this is the best camping we had been in a long time. We felt very confortable and enjoyed it so much! We were practically alone.
The kitchen is open full time, bathrooms with hot shower too. You can use everything when you need it, and that makes you feel at home.
wifi is fast, we could watch Netflix from our tent :)
Baños is 30' walking or 10' by car. Even though the camping is always open, it's safe to leave your car there. We are always obsessed about that, and we had no issues.
No shops nearby, get what you need in Baños.
There are some hikings you can do in the closest town on the way to Baños, following the river up.

Report Check-In

for sure a 100% 5 star rating. Perfect tranquillity location, good showers. we stayed here for over 1 week. there are no traffic sounds at all. The sound of the river below gives you this zen feeling all day. With perfect arond 20/25 degrees temperatures a day and chilly at night this spot has been one of our best for the last 20 months of traveling. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

We stayed here 4 nights and really enjoyed it. The sound of the river makes for good sleep and the view down the canyon is beautiful. The kitchen, bathrooms and hot shower are all new, clean and functional. Carmen was very nice, Abby was out of the country. The price is $5 per person per night. Highly recommend.
