Terrible crossing from KZ to UZ. Took 4h on the KZ side alone.
Be aware, no vans with 3.5t. Not sure what the limit is, I think 3t, that’s a rule on the UZ side. They let us through in the end with lot of “convincing”. Overall quite chaotic and especially on the UZ side unclear rules. The whole process took us 6h. Definitely not recommended as a border :)

Awfull border crossing as it took us 7 hours.... at first we thought he Uzbek were the problem. But after 5 hours we reached the Kazach border and there was 1 man checking the cars..... A lot of irritation and frustration among people in line as people tried to skip the line. We were the only Western tourist and hoped to get pass the line, as we did before, but not an option. Patience, patience my friend 😇

We crossed the border from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan in 8 hours (finally at 3:30 A.M.!). We stood in line with a lot of cars making small border traffic that were very rigorously controlled.

Report Check-In

Relatively quick border (1:30h UZ / 30min KZ)

Uzbekistan side was somewhat unpleasant, we had 2 drunk officers who were quite idi*ts. They made us take everything out of the vehicle and also searched and fiddled with everything in the drawers asking stupid questions.

On the Kazakhstan side they were very friendly and professional. We only had to present the documentation (they themselves filled out the vehicle import paper for us on the computer). They didn't search the vehicle.

Uzbekistan > Kazakhstan. Not busy at all, we were already at the border gate before we actually knew it. Just a tiny bit chaotic for Central Asian standards. No signs or whatsoever where to go but they point you in the right direction. Uzbekistan out took more or less an hour, Kazakhstan in a bit less than an hour. Longest waits are at the import and passport desks, the car checks go quite fast.

Report Check-In

Very friendly bordercrossing. One officer spoke English, the other one talked to us about Martin Luther and German literature in ... German! :-)
They wanted to see all our registration slips when exiting Uzbekistan and they took their time to sort them into the right order. If you want to save time, do it yourself while waiting in line.
Kazakh side very unfriendly and kind of rude, nobody speaks English.

Coming from Shymkent you end up here if you follow the Taschkent indications. But this border is not allowed for trucks.

Report Check-In

We arrive at 3pm. We end up going through all 2 boarder controlls the mext morning at 7am. So far the longest time into a boarder zone... 😅
We were lucky to wait at night. Still hot during the day.....

Report Check-In

We could not cross from Kazakstan to Uzbekistan at this border point. Big rig, 7 meters, 12 tons. We had to cross at Saryaghash, there trucks are allowed although the roads are very narrow.

Report Check-In

We had a really slow border crossing. They know what to do with you, but there were too many people and not enough staff. We stayed 5,5 hours at the border. Sometimes even a little bit complicated

Report Check-In

we had a really fast border crossing from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan.
I think the border is now better organised than before.

Report Check-In

So so slow, you just don’t move and they don’t tell you why!! Clueless. I’d recommend another border. It took over 3 hours to cross into Kazakhstan! Kept asking for bribes but just kept saying no and they gave up.

Report Check-In

Very slow and disorganised.
