Ponys expeditions | Tourist Attraction

We booked a tour to Laguna Parón with Pony's Expedition and had a very enjoyable experience. The cost is 65 soles per person now. We requested to be picked up from Camping Guadalupe. The tour bus comes from Huaraz and they will meet you at the main road from the camping area around 9:00 am. After Caraz they continue up the mountain and about 30 minutes later, they stop at a little restaurant for bathrooms and the option to buy breakfast items (egg or cheese bread for 4 soles). At this time you can reserve a lunch for when you return back down the mountain at 3:00 pm. After that you continue to the park gate, where they collect 5 soles each. The road into the park is beautiful with many waterfalls coming down the mountains. Once you arrive at the lake you have about 2 hours. You have the option to climb to the mirador. It took us about 45 minutes. There is some minor rock scrambling at the top but nothing too crazy. We spent about 30 minutes at the top and continued down. You can also walk the flat path by the lake if you don't want to climb to the mirador. There is the option to rent kayaks. I think they were 25 soles per person but we opted not to rent them. There are also basic bathrooms here for 1 sole. After 2 hours of amazing views, you return to the bus and continue back to the restaurant for a hot meal. We had the trout and chicken (see pictures). Still here. We rented backpacks and a stove here for trekking. They have even have equipment for rock / ice climbing. The prices we got to note down are: Stove 6s/day, backpack 10s/day, walking stick pair 15s/day, sleeping matt 5s/day, small propane botte 42s.

We stopped by multiple times from 11:00am to 1:30pm and the door was closed. Nobody answered when we rung the bell. That could've been a long lunch hour but just sharing our experience.

We came here at 8:30am and it was too late to join a tour to laguna Paron but they were very helpful and friendly and organized a private (last minute) taxi for us instead (140 SOL for two persons). 1:40 hrs drive up (bumpy dirt road) and 2 hours at the laguna are included. At the laguna you can hike up to a mirador and around the laguna for a bit. 2 hours were enough time to do both.

And could hire a backpack for 15S a day. It was very basic, old and used like 30L but I could attach tent and mattress so I was happy i could do it in Caraz.

We reserved 2 wonderful daytrips, one to Winchus and the mirador over the Cordillera Blanca and Negre and other one to Lagunas Llanganuco and Portachuelo Pass. We were very satisfied about the organisation of these trips. Friendly lady Conny at the office and a wonderful driver Pariachi who shared a lot of info with us.

Highly suggest this place for setting up a private or semi private taxi/tour to either Laguna Parón or Laguna 69. She was very responsive via whatsapp and the pricing seemed consistent with everything we heard in town. They’ll also pick you up and drop you off wherever you’re staying including the campsites in town where we stayed in our van (FYI camping Guadalupe is better than Apu ecolodge). un excellent endroit pour organiser une ballade vers les differentes lagune (peron , 69 pour les plus connues) transport guide a un excellent tarif (55 soles / personne la laguna peron en privé ) , a l'étage une excellente pizzeria !
