Bolivia
way too sandy for a non 4x4 car, even we struggled...(no issues no 4x4 needed for us)
30.01.20: you can make it without 4x4 but as we dont have a big SUV we stoped because of the rocks (coming from salinas de G.M.) and the road condition
We don't have any photos of this place yet.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Currently no impairment, not up to date. The road condition changes after the season and service work - as on every earth road. If you are unsure, you should inquire about the condition from the locals.
Report Check-InWe came from Salinas de Garcí Mendoza and for ustge road is not in good condition - but I think with big SUV and high clearence you can make it easy without fear to break anything.. as we dont habe that westpped. Ma
Report Check-InCurrent situation okay, bit of heavy sands, but inline with the previous post road quality in the direction of the salar is worse, lots of rocks and some holes. Very scenic road though!
Report Check-InPassed with our 2WD car, doable with some speed without accelerating in the sand.
We then took the shortcut road to Salinas through the salt flat. It was dry and ok with low clearance.
May be the road has changed, because we had absolutely no problem here. There is a bit of sand on 400m but we did it very easily with our basic 2tons 2WD small van (Chevrolet N300).
The real warning symbol should be after Churacari when you are going to Coqueza : this part of the road is HORRIBLE because of the rocks, holes, dust and sand.
We started the shortcut across the sand but it was soft and wet at this time of year. We did a sick drift in our vanagon turning round! The inland route was fine just bumpy and slow. Entry to the salar was perfect.
Report Check-InAround 500 meters of sandy road where is better to not stop ,but it was ok with our 24 feet rv .( propulsion drive)
didn't see any Sandy spots when following maps.me. no 4x4 needed at this time at all.
