Iran
Campsite has just opened recently (status June 2018) it provides basic toilets and huts, shower not working yet (if ever)
A hut is 20.000 IRR (2USD at time of writing)
Food and cold water is provided.
Parking for cars and motorbikes is provided (watch out for the deep gravel though!)
At the time of writing there was an English speaking electric engineer on site - others don’t speak English, but are very forthcoming and helpful!
Badap-e Surt springs are 20min walk uphill - getting up there with a fully loaded motorcycle is not recommended (very steep and sandy road uphill consisting more of deep potholes than anything else. Also quite slippery even when walking sometimes) cars with high clearance can do it.
It is said to visit early in the morning, when potholes contain more water.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Campsite seemed deserted, no one there, lots of roadwork around. Not the best place to stay, we stayed at the Ecolodge nearby.
The way to the springs that starts at the campsite is only a hiking trail, as water „converted“ it into a creek :-) The other road is only suitable for motorbikes or vehicles with high, very high, ground clearance.
Road to the springs impossible to ride or drive. Walk the last 1,5km.
Report Check-InRight now, the road is damaged / under construction, so only for 4wd. however, if xou have no 4wd, locals will drive you the last 5 km with their pickups
Report Check-InSadly the road to the springs is under construction (the last 6 km) and we were unable to pass the provided Dtours as they were badly made.
If you have 4WD and sufficient (a lot) ground-clearance you might make it but I don't know the conditions further down the road.
