If you don’t have vehicle insurance for Macedonia, you can buy it here - even on a Sunday. The shortest option is 15 days and costs €50 for a car or motorcycle. (Our Jeep Wrangler was considered a car). They accept cash or credit cards.
The Macedonian border official will keep your passport while you purchase insurance and then return it to you when you show him the insurance document. It’s all very quick and easy.

Cross this border on 9.9.2022, took about 25 minutes, into bulgaria, bulgarian customs made problems because i had 150 cigarettes with me, he asked me why, i said thats for corrupt police-men if i have to pay fine if speeding, waid "bashish", he played stupid and pretended to not understand the word, now in BG i found out everybody here understands it. he show me a sign you are only allowed to bring 40 of it. As i bought them years ago in Cambodia they are worth nothing, and said, if you want, take them. He took 40 of them and let me go. Road-tax can be bought 100 meters after customs check on lefthandside. 8 euros for a week. My belgian friend living in BG told me to not forget to buy it, there are cameras everywhere and they will send the fine to Belgium if you dont pay it !!
Report Check-InDO NOT ENTER BULGARIA WITH CAMPER > 3,5 t!! In Bulgaria, the road tax for trucks is terrible and payment does not work. Tax must be paid every day for 24 hours and for a special route, maximum one day in advance. Coming from Greece, we had trouble to pay at an automatic point of sale near the border, but this was the only point that worked. Other options did not work: app, other fuel stations. We left Bulgaria after two nights.

Report Check-InIf you don't have a greencard, you have to buy a insurance for Macedonia here. 50 euro car, 120 for a delivery van under 1 ton. We had to pay 120 for our Mercedes sprinter.
