Something not right?

Description

Neat little restaurant and hospedaje with a huge fenced parking lot. Super friendly owner. The parking lot would be suitable for big rigs but getting around the tight corner at the entrance gate might be a challenge. Give it a try, turning around is not a problem. Toilets with buckets are available and bucket showers cost COP 2.000.
We paid COP 10.000 for our car and 2 people. Another group here paid COP 20.000 for their car and 4 people.

How to get there: drive through Cabo towards Punta Gallinas and it is the very last place in town on the right hand side.

Bonus: Excellent restaurant.

Came here with History Tour group and left my car in Riohacha in the paid parking near their office. Stop for lunch here. All tours stop at this restaurant for lunch. Great food & service. May drive my 4x4 rig here and stay.

Stayer one night here, calm at night, moto went at 5 so obviously wake up and left at 7 to follow a convoy of Colombian to punta gallinas. We paid 40 000 (20 000 for 2 personas in car and 20 000 for 2 people in a tent). Very nice people.

Report Check-In

10k COP per person per night to sleep in the car or tent, toilets included. Showers 2k COP. Hammock would have costed 35k COP.
Tours are coming here, so if you want to visit Punta Gallenas you can negotiate with them to tag a long. As everyone said doing Punta Gallenas on our own is not feasible (too many bad ways and hidden rivers to get stuck), we paid 50k COP per person to tag a long with the tour (2 days) in our own car. If you go to Punta Gallenas bring enough crackers and water for the rope blocks (we had about 150 or more!!!) - we might not have given something evertime but still... you can buy in Riohacha, there is an iOverlander point for the water sachets.

We stayed for one night in a privat room and paid 60'000 p.P incl. breakfast (high season). The room was clean and nice. The food was delicious and a littlebit expensive. The owner is friendly.

We chose to camp here rather than free camping down the beach. We had a few bad incidents coming down the road and didn’t feel very safe in the area. They don’t give you anything for 35K though. Shade, showers, are extra. Toilets might be included but we used our own. Restaurant is expensive and not very good. Lots of very pushy kids around. Tried to enter camper without permission. You pretty much have to tell them off. Lots of stray skinny dogs using the beach as a toilet. Stayed one night. Decided not to continue exploring La Guajira after our first impressions..

Still possible to camp both tent and van. New price is 7000pp, but we could sleep for 5000. bucket shower still 2000. We could cook with own stove with water from the kitchen. Beautiful places at the beach and a fresh wind in the evening. Maybe not the best place but very cheap.

Report Check-In

Nice option to pitch your tent. If it’s not so busy they let you pitch your tent under the roof in the little huts they use for hammocks in the beach too. 5000 pp. they have a huge parking fenced parking lot.

We ended up staying five days while kitesurfing. Big rig friendly as they have 3 entrances which we didn't see at first. They are currently building up this place with a bigger restaurant and some cabañas. Would be nice to see what it looks like in the future. As for today: cheap and secure camping together with fantastic food. Can highly recommend!
