Description

$10 pppn, beautiful lakeside campground. They have braais, picnic benches, small shelters and electricity (sometimes).
The lodge is a short walk up the hill and has a restaurant/bar with amazing views and you can use the swimming pool. We didn't eat at the restaurant but they said dinner was 120Kwacha, lunch 100kwacha, and breakfast 80kwacha.
The lodge offer boat trips ($ unknown) and trips to some hot springs, they charge $10pp or you can self drive and go for free. You cant swim in the hot springs.

Latest Check-Ins

Great place with kind staff. The price at reception for camping is K400 pppn (high season?), but talk to the manager as I paid K200 per night. Scenic spots to choose from, shelter with picknick table and electricity, and very clean ablutions. Very quiet in March, much nicer atmosphere than the big lodge down the road, and decided to stay three nights.

Meals are expensive (K200 to K250 for full menu), instead I only ate the unlisted budget option of just fries+salad for K60. Beers K20, sodas K15.

I went on a rewarding game drive they offer for K450 (local price, higher for internationals but negotiate in off season), the price is excluding park entry and will be higher if there are less than 4 people.
At the campsite itself you will easily spot baboons, monkeys, hyrax and (early evening) bushbabies, at rare occasion also bigger animals pass by.

Very nice campsite on a kind of penninsula in the lake. Few locals coming by for fishing in the afternoon. Morning fog on the lake looks amazing. Ablutions look creepy from outside but are extremely clean inside and get cleaned every day. We had free firewood lying around, don't know if it is always there.

Camping is still 200 Kwacha ppn, the rest as described below.

Old but nice lodge with good service.
You can take some trips - Safari (you can go with your own car), boat trip for watching hippoes and trip to hot springs (not good for swimming).
One night for two person cost 900 Kw, continental breakfast 100 Kw, English breakfast 120 Kw, dinner 150 Kw (soup, salad, main and desert). You can also have lunch, but we do not have it.

Unexpected almost mediterranean scenery at the dam, very special. We paid 200 Kwacha per person for camping. Electricity is available at the picknick table. Wifi is available at the reception. There was another group of campers who took several boat tours which were organized by the lodge. Dinner at the restaurant is a several-course-menu, we paid 150 Kw per person even though we only ate one of the courses, so this is rather expensive. Mosi was 15 Kw, though.

Very nice place and quite spot. Be carefull to the monkey. The price is always 200 k ppn. We try to have a discount because we stay 6 days to make improvement to the camper, but they did not want.
We were alone so we had electricity at site
4G with MTN data.

Now 200 kw pppn so 400 kw for 2 people. Simple vegetarian dish charged 120 kw like a meat dish. A rip off ! Not worth it.

Now 100 kwcha pppn for camping. Lovely place.
Few spots have big shade structures with electrical points.
A bit windy at times, toilet block is spotless, but from the 1950’s, electricity for hot water looks a bit dodgy. Good quiet place to relax.

Perfect sunset spot but that's all this sad and tried place has going for it. Staff are friendly and doing what they can with what they have.
Campsite ablutions were one of the worst we have come across.

Awesome views of the dam and great facilities. Must be in my top 3 sites ever.
