Looks like a dry river bed or lake bed. 4x4 would be best and the surface in some areas is quite soft, we are around 3t and made some deep tyre tracks
This is a dump. Not suitable for camping. No shelter. Strong winds. Very soft ground down to the bottom.
Nice spot out of sight of the road and much less windy than on top. We had a big storm and slept in the car instead of RTT. The hills give some shelter, but the car was still shaking a lot. Ground is a little spongy so first explore by foot. Can be tricky when ground is wet.
We arrived at this place in the dark so we weren't able to find a way down. But we decided that we preferred the hill and the look down into the creek. Our place was here: 48.186979, 61.161246 (keep right and drive around the lake)
There is a free space with not so much vegetation and you can look down and watch the rodent animals (desert mice?) living close to you on the slope.
Thanks for this great place!!
Btw there is no mobile connection.
Beautiful camp spot! Worth a stop. We didn't drive down, so the ground was firm enough. Luckily not too much wind for our rooftop tent. Amongst our favorite spots so far!
Take the track off the main road and then go off the track down into the dried out lake. The ground is quite soft - softer in the places that are more cracked. We followed a set of tracks down as it was more compacted and firm. Great spot, hidden from the road and protected a bit from the wind. Watch after dark for scorpions!!
