Description

*Overnight camping/parking is NOT permitted at this location.
.....
Near a quiet marina and kids playground, with washrooms, open from 8am to 9pm but may sometimes be open all night long. Some have reported loud fishermen in the morning, but also very quiet. There’s a concession stand in the building with the restrooms, but not sure of the hours. Walking distance to camp general store and town.

Beautiful spot to chill out for the evening. However we spoke to both a state trooper who stopped by and also someone in the on-site Sheriff’s office. Both adamantly stated absolutely no overnight parking here or in the other lot in town. Perhaps it’s temporary as there were weekend festivities in town but we moved elsewhere for the night rather than risk being moved on later.

Report Check-In

Stayed on night without any issues. There are signs saying “park open dawn till dusk” but didn’t see any “no overnight” signs. I think there was also a sign near the beach that said “camping prohibited” but we decided to take the risk. The bathrooms close at 7pm but there is a porta potty. Didn’t use it so I don’t know what condition it’s in but it’s not locked.

Great place! Parked overnight in our 23ft bus with no problem. Showers inside restrooms get lukewarm and are open for day use. Decent service for Verizon

Beach front parking next to coast guard post and sheriff’s local office. Walking distance to town. Big pavilion and picnic tables, bathrooms and shower most daylight hours. There is a dawn to dusk sign on the entrance to the parking area and the beach and swimming area are labeled similarly. Looks like there used to be a no camping part of the sign next to the restrooms, but someone removed the “no” part of it. We asked a lifeguard, a policeman and a conservation officer if it was alright we stay and they all said it was no big deal so long as we weren’t jerks. Very quiet night. It appears other folks park a few vehicles in this lot overnight.

Report Check-In

Stayed the night. With no issues. Arrived at 8pm woke up to a beautiful light house! Would stay again. cops drove through at 10pm lighted up the van and then left. No dreaded knock

Report Check-In

Lot is OPEN! We spent the night from about 8pm until 5am with no issues or interruptions. Beautiful spot, no one else was around. Great view of the light house.

Report Check-In

I got a knock from a sheriff in the middle of the night. This parking lot used to be 24 hours but no longer is. The sheriff said it's possible that people who parked here before were just never seen because the territory the sheriff's department covers is so large. However it is not okay to park there overnight. The sheriff's deputy led me to a nearby boat launch which he said he had cleared with his sergeant to allow me to park at overnight. I don't know if the boat launch will become a good place to park, but the parking lot is definitely risky.

Report Check-In

In an earlier comment I noted that this place is closed. however I now realize that the pin was in the wrong place. The parking lot described in the entry is at Sodus Point Beach Park, not right in town where the pin is. I've submitted a corrected map placement, so perhaps by the time you read this the pin will have moved. But if you're in a parking lot on Bay Street right in the business district, you're in the wrong place.

Report Check-In

YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO PARK HERE OVERNIGHT ANYMORE. I tried to stay here on the night of December 15th 2020, and was awakened by a sheriff's deputy at 2:00 in the morning. He said the parking lot used to be 24 hours but no longer is. He also said that the area the sheriffs patrol is so large that it's possible people parked here even after the parking lot was no longer 24 hours and were just never seen by the sheriffs. The deputy led me to a nearby boat launch that he had cleared with his sergeant to allow me to stay in overnight. So I do not recommend this parking lot anymore.

We spent two nites here in our converted campervan. Beautiful spot! Had no problems. There's both a Coast Guard and Sheriff station nearby. They knew we were there, but were fine with it. Nearby restrooms were closed for Covid, but there were PortaPotties. Those were utterly disgusting of course, but "any port in a storm," right? 😆 I'd happily come here again.

Report Check-In

Just as described. Very quiet. Beautiful place to park.
Restrooms temporarily closed, but clean porta potties available.

As described. Very quiet, and restrooms still open, even this late in the season. Was not disturbed.

Stayed one night here, would've been quiet if it wasn't for lawn mowers but that's fine. Nice little town.
