Description

ADMIN NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. See below.

I'm a Park Ranger in this area and we just got notified of this site. Upon looking through the 'campsites' in Kananaskis Country, we've noticed that a few of them are illegal. Cat Creek is a day use area only, as well with all the other day use areas. People are only permitted in these areas until 11pm. Anybody found camping within these areas will get a violation ticket for doing so. We became aware of this from a gentleman who was camping in cat creek and told us about the site, so we wanted to reach out and prevent others from getting a violation ticket as well.

Latest Check-Ins

As described, trailhead parking area with two riverside campsites (complete with tables, fire ring and pit toilet) on the south side of the road; on the north side cars parking at a presumed trail head. (South side has two sections, one further back, both with pit toilet.)

No signage regarding overnight parking however, as its supposed to be trailhead parking, best for small rigs or car sleepers, tents will work if you nab one of the 2 campsites

Report Check-In

This parking lot is surrounded by trees, next to the river which people frequent to fish. Quiet, free and does not have any NO overnight signs, outside provisional park so is legal. Pit toilets, picnic tables and fire rings.... must bring own wood there are signs saying you cannot pick up dead wood here. Drive to the end of the parking lot and there is a great walking trail which is approx 1 hr, take your time and enjoy the views, highly recommend, beautiful views leads to a waterfall with information posts along the way, very enjoyable/stunning walk, average to moderate trail, steady climbs, worth the effort!

Report Check-In

Parking/Trailhead next to a large creek. No „no overnight/camping“ sign and outside of provincial park. Pit toilets, trash bins and a picknick table. Nice scenery and quiet.
