Something not right?

Description

Its a very nice public place in front of a 200m high dune. At the entrance is a gate that closes in the evening, but not with a key. We spoke with a man from the little town nearby he said its fine to overnight here. A lot of fire pits and rustical toilets (just a hole in the ground and a wall)

it's an interesting view, but hard to really enjoy with literal piles of trash blowing around in the wind and hundreds of flies from the open vault toilets swarming your every crevice. we were pooped from the border crossing and reluctantly stayed the night. many people coming and going until midnight for some reason. apparently a very popular place with the locals. no one checking for money at 5 when we got here either. lots of food scraps and meat bones laying around so watch your pets.
*morning edit* a large sprinter van showed up at 9 to let out 15 or so people with trash bags, apparently to clean up the place. hopefully it's nicer for the people staying after us.

Very nice place, we arrived there at 6 PM, didn't have to pay anything, theu keep The gate closed (without lock) to keep the cow anf lamas inside, but anyone can enter. A lot of vizcachas, and a stuning sunset.

Beautiful place! Arrived around 5pm and opened/closed the gate. No one was there on a Wednesday so we didn't get charged. You have to go around the lake and follow the path that takes you closer to the sand dunes to find grills, stone tables/chairs, and squat toilets. It was very cold and windy at night but we had a gorgeous sunrise. We were the only ones there so cats loved it.

Great place to spend the night. Lot of viscachas (chinchillas) on the rocks opposite of the large dune when the sun goes down. Lot of space, perfect for big rigs.
There is a closed gate near the main road, but you can go through, just close it behind you.

We spent two nights at the foot of the 200 m of high dune. It is accessed by passing a portal. We paid 400 pesos for the vehicle a day. Very quiet place. a lot of family attendance. BBQ on site and possibility to rent surfing to go down the dune in a nearby house or in the center of Abra Pampa. 1000 pesos a day. Very nice view from the top of the dune for the brave, it goes up to 3710 m altitude.

The gate is still without lock. From the gate to the picnic area it is about 1 km ripio. You pass a small lagoon, we saw flamingos and other waterbirds there. In the rocks beside the picnic area we saw andean chinchillas. It seems that the place is very popular for the locals at weekends. We had a wonderful stay there, we can really recommend this place.

Very nice : still closed but still without key (the gate must be here because of the cattle inside: llamas and cows).
We « stealthily » entered and closed the gate behind us and it was a great night: quiet, full of stars !
