MODERATOR NOTE: Place removed because camping is illegal here. Day Use Only, Signs posted and enforced
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
Gorgeous spot. The view is breathtaking. I didn’t sleep here. There’s a sign at the entrance that says DAY USE ONLY :( I probably would’ve took the risk to sleep here if I saw it yesterday night. Worth the possible ticket or knock at 3am. Ugh
Report Check-InExcellent view, stayed overnight and pretty much had the place to ourselves all night. Barely any 101 noise and nobody bothered us.
Report Check-InPulled in for a night. Great views of the ocean. restrooms are clean and no one bothered me. It was quiet and there were a couple others vans parked.
Report Check-InThis view point has now been SIGNED. “Day Use Only”. No vehicles after 10 PM !!!!
Report Check-Insite is posted as open 6 am to 10pm so we didn't stay overnight. From ODOT trip check page re: rest areas:
To supplement the Department's rest areas, arrangements have been made with other entities to provide additional rest opportunities for travelers. The features of these other rest opportunities, as well as their rules of use may vary based on the site...
This site is OR State Parks property, so overnighting is not permitted...
Report Check-InReally good spot for the view! Just far enough from the road so you don’t listen to traffic all night. I was sitting in my bed and watching whales as the sun was setting. I mean, wow!
Report Check-InGreat place to sleep. There is a sign that says that the place is to be used only between 6am and 10pm but there were many van and rv staying. We were not bothered. PLUS : there is actually a whale, she comes pretty close to the cliff. Will sleep there again
Report Check-InBeautiful viewpoint. About 20 vehicles overnighted here, a mix of travelers and local people living in their cars. Sign says ‘closed at 10 PM no overnighting’ but apparently it’s not enforced.
Report Check-InBeautiful viewpoint. Saw some whales in the morning. Clean bathroom. No overnight sign but we were with 8 other RVs and cars parked. No one bothered us.
Report Check-InParked here for a night without issue. 3 other campers, 2 huge RVs and a couple of car campers stayed the night. We checked the rest area website and it is designated a 'safety rest area' so I don't think anyone checks. Toilets were clean and open all night. Amazing views of the coast in the morning.
Report Check-InPark ranger at Beverly Beach told us about this pull-off spot! It was an INCREDIBLE sunset with gray whales in the evening AND during our morning walk!!
Report Check-InSo...there is now a no camping sign here. However, the RV’s parked here in the evening were still in place at 7 the morning. But there is another Viewpoint south of Depot Bay (5 minutes) Whale Cove that is spectacular!
More sheltered from the 101. Right on the side of the ocean. Clean washrooms with running water and toilets (eg no outhouse!) One other vehicle parked for the night. This is a 5 star spot!!!
Incredible to see whales right on the shoreline. Clean bathrooms. Quiet, peaceful night. Good cell service. There is one “no camping” sign with a tent and line through it on a grassy area. We didn’t camp; we parked overnight ;)
Report Check-InSpent the day here as you are right above the ocean! Lots of seagulls from people feeding. Restrooms on lot ~
Report Check-InGood location for a pull off and overnight. stayed one night. Multiple Rvs in and out.
Report Check-InAwesome spot for the night! Beautiful views in the morning and listening to crashing waves all night was a dream! Other campers pulled up during the night, all good to stay for a night!
Lots of walkers around in the AM but a beautiful look out
It’s definitely okay to park here if only for the night. No one bothered me and it is great to have a bathroom!
Report Check-InAs described. There is a sign saying day use only, but once a trucker with a semi pulled in I wasn't too worried anymore, these guys gotta know whats up. Nice view, toilet, the ocean swallows most of the highway noise. Only letdown is one of those buoys (marker in the sea, I don't know how to spell it) that makes a noise with the surf, kinda annoying.
Police drove through to have a look who is there, no complaints.
Perfect Place to stay for one night, right to the beach nice view to the ocean
Report Check-InSpend one night, no problemo, in the morning I meet another camper who says she come here all the time for the night it just gets a bit crowdy in summer time, and got to see a whale from here, it's beautiful, keep an eye open for spurs in the ocean.
Report Check-InA viewpoint off 101 with multiple overnight travelers. Considered a DOT rest area so you have 12 hours. Great views of the ocean.
