Description

Relatively flat pullout on the side of narrow Voltaire Canyon Road. 2-wheel-drive accessible: we came here once we saw firsthand how steep and rocky “backside of Tahoe” was near the end. Very little car traffic, weak AT&T + Verizon signals

Quiet and comfortable. There are three pullouts, the first one was not very level but the second two are great. Dirt road for the first mile then paved the rest of the way. No signs and no one bothered us. Great spot near Tahoe!

beautiful and open road was decent. alittle windy at night.

first mile on Voltaire canyon road is rather very washed out or sandy, but nothing that 2wd struggled with. very quiet, pretty place with minimal Verizon service

Tried to get to 41710C in my FWD Promaster and didn’t make it — dirt/gravel was too loose at too steep an incline for my large heavy van. Got a bit dicey rolling back down the dirt hill up to that spot, but ended up parking on one of the pull-outs off the paved road instead. A degree or two off level, but quiet and safe.

Beautiful spot, nice view, very low traffic.
We did not stay in the exact same spot, as it was windy, we found one protected from the wind.
Few trashed that we collected.
Talked with a nice guy that was fixing the road. He confirmed that it is legal to camp here.

Please keep

Stayed 1 night. Quiet spot right next to the road. Pretty windy. Saw one other van staying at a pullout down the road.

Right off the edge of paved road, marked sign (41710C) up a little hill and a dead end perfect for 2 cars and a tent. Only staying for a night since no place to stay in Tahoe for free. It is also hidden from the road so no one can see you.

was okay. not sure if we went to the right spot, the place area felt like we weren't supposed to be there.

LOVED this spot! Beautiful overlook of Carson City - arrived late at night and the lights were beautiful. One passer by honked obnoxiously and a few trucks passed through in the morning but felt safe overall and slept well.

We decided to check out the location. We made it up the first part which is a dirt road but 2wd passable (March) then it changes to a sealed road after that which is fine but narrow. There are a few pullouts and also 2 nice spots higher up the road, one at the junction with a dirt road on right and then one at very top of road crest. Both with great views. The road is narrow but there are a few turnaround points along the road, we have a 22ft sprinter.
