United States
This is a designated USFS dispersed campsite with no amenities. Free. Far enough off the main highway to reduce the noise and very easy access for any size rig. It is large area that could accommodate 20-30 rigs. The views are nice and it is a great stopover spot or basecamp for exploring the Uinta NF. Good AT&T (can work without a booster).
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
All, we spent some nights more as we loved the place. But what looked clean the first moment was not clean. I spent 1 hour collecting garbage.
PLEASE, pack out your staff. Places like this are gorgeous and free! We all want this to continue
Thanks
Everything is said before! Nice, clean, pretty level spots, beautiful scenic and views, 3bars of Verizon 4G.
Report Check-InEasy to get to. Popular place . Great place to overnight for FREE, anywhere up this road free for 12 days . Lots of flat spots . No toilet or garbage ; pack in pack out. Fairly Quiet at night ; some highway traffic . Would come here again
Report Check-InAs described. Lots of room, only 5 other rigs here when we pulled in at about 5. Good spot for the night.
Report Check-InUn endroit magnifique, vue splendide et calme parfait. Terrain plat et herbe. Le tout gratuit !
Merci pour ces spots nature autorisés !
beautiful area with lots of spots to choose from. we have two midsized skoolies in our group and did just fine. lots of roaming cows and amazing views. no cell service, starlink works great
Report Check-InGreat easy flat spot… however the cows, cow noises and cow poop are quite prevalent.
Our dog jumped out of the van and rolled in cow poop immediately. Time spent dealing with that wasn’t worth the free camp!
First time overlanding - and this was a perfect entry level camp for that. Fire rings and a lot of space. Some noise from a small road nearby but with ear plugs you’ll hear nothing. Views in the morning are fantastic - tip: catch the sunset!
Report Check-InAn ok spot to spend the night. No facilities and only one bar of Verizon service that came and went. There's a few RVs here longer term, but most people came in the evening and were gone first thing next morning. Nice view, hard to level, a fair amount of traffic on sheep pass road. ok for one night, I'll probably try somewhere else next time.
Report Check-InWe are full-timers and have a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We stayed here for 3 days in early June over the weekend. The dispersed camping area pretty much fills up overnight, with 7 or 8 of us staying longer. There were a few day users as well. The entire area was clean and free of trash. The sites are a little wonky, but we were able to get level. While the CG is far enough from US 6 to not be bothered with road noise, Sheep Creek Rd sees a lot of traffic and hence a fair bit of road noise. AT&T coverage was quite good, with 3 bars of 5G and speeds up to 16 MB/s.
Report Check-InJust a piece of flat land, no trees or anything. There are trains passing by & blowing their whistle relatively often, also early in the morning.
Report Check-InNice, wide open area close to the highway for quick, easy access, but far enough to not have to deal with a lot of road noise. There were quite a few others there, but the area was so big no one was anywhere near me.
Report Check-InNice open land with about 10 fire ring spots, some have trees and some are next to a road that settles down at night. I could see how some spots get slick with rain but grass is in most. Any rig large or small are here. Paved road to get here. Two bars Verizon and great speed and Cricket two bars. Sunset was fantastic!
Report Check-InBeautiful views of mountains, open meadow, ATV trail off the back up the hill. About 10 sites. No water, but has firepits, decent road to drive a Promaster van in. WARNING -Site at top of hill to left around Juniper tree has LOTS of nails on the ground from pallet burning. We picked up what we could, but be aware.
Report Check-Inpulled in here on a Tuesday evening with our 24 ft class c and there were about 10 rigs comfortably here. the lot is large but it's very slanted so there's very few spots where you'd be able to park level. whoever said there could be 30 rigs here is a bit too used to rv parks. this is a dispersed camping site, which means everyone should be pretty distanced from one another, not on top of each other. don't be that one guy, and park on top of someone else.
pros: good reception. beautiful mountain view.
cons: generators, people really close to one another. we stayed one night and left early af the next morning. no privacy at all.
overall we prob would come here last resort.
Large camping area with very few trees. Close to highway off paved road. No facilities But there’s a rest area a few miles east with bathrooms. Good for one night.
Report Check-InAs described. 2 bars LTE Verizon. Have 36’ Moho with trailer. Parked under one of the rare trees. Afternoon shade. Fairly flat space. No cows today. Two other units.
Report Check-InGreat USFS primitive camping area about a mile up a rough paved road off of the highway. Plenty of room for many vehicles/big rigs with 7-8 stone fire rings. A little bit of broken glass and trash as you’d expect, but we did our best to pack out more than we packed in.
1-2 bars Verizon LTE.
Report Check-InStayed here 4/26/21 - 4/28/21. At first, from looking at Sheep Creek road which is blacktop with holes in it, didn't think much of going the halfmile up to it. But the campground is wide open with several fire rings. No tables or porta potties. Very quiet at night, although railroad is down by the main road so the whistles can be heard. Nine rigs first night, seven rigs second night. No one was near anyone else, lots of room for tents or big rigs, but ya gotta search for flat places.
Report Check-InEast spot for an overnight. Close to the highway and accessible for all rigs. Plenty of people here mid-week, but easy to find a spot that is semi-private. Good cell service on ATT. No amenities. Free!
Report Check-InClearly off-season so we are sharing this spot with only one other vehicle. It is a large open field with nice views of snowy hills. Beware: it’s muddy! Stay on the gravel. We have a front wheel drive camper van and got stuck. Very lucky and grateful that some young locals were out hunting and helped push us out.
Report Check-InOff a paved road, level, easy access. Big space. Natural beauty but a lot of trash. Busy on a Friday. Spotty cell service with US cellular (Verizon). A bit sketchy feeling compared to most National Forest sites.
Report Check-InJust off a paved road, very easy access and level. Nice spot (natural beauty), but lots of trash. Busy on a Friday night. A bit sketchier vibe the most National Forest campsites, but good for a quick stop.
Report Check-InNot bad for a quick stop. Quite a bit of road noise, no shade, but quick access. Full LTE with AT&T and free
Report Check-InAs described... A perfect, large, legal overnight camping spot for free. Dispersed Camping at it’s finest.
Report Check-InGreat place to stop overnight with good AT&T and Verizon service.
Report Check-InRight off the main road. Solid spot to hang out. 1 bar of AT&T LTE. WE were the only ones there when we stayed. Zero amenities so pack out what you pack in.
Report Check-InReally good place to stay ! Beautiful view and lot of place. It’s a free place for the cow ! Some woke us up in the morning by coming near to the van. It’s pretty windy. You can stay up to 14 days.
Report Check-InVery quiet and free place, thank you for posting! Only a few cars passed by, be aware of the wind. Tents should be secured, but a nice and big place. Saw 3 sites just when you turn right after highway, please take your garbage with you!! Here are two big Garbage bins laying around from other campers that stayed here before, pack in what you pack out!
Tons of cows around when we stayed here, was kinda funny, but be careful to not disturb them
As described by our friends, big free open dispursed USFS camping spot. Nice mountain views and easy access off the highway.
Report Check-InAwesome place right off the freeway with plenty of room and easy accessibility
Report Check-InWe couldn’t make it to the top with only front wheel drive when there was heavy snow. Looks beautiful though.
