The big plus to staying here compared with Kipepeo is that Sunrise Beach has quite a lot of shade trees under which to camp keeping in mind the hazard of parking under a coconut palm!. The ablutions at Sunrise were OK if smelly and the powerful floodlights at night will bother some campers in tents or rooftops. Could also be noisy with music revellers at weekends. There is also too much trash blowing around on the sand in the camp area. As stated by others Anu the manager is a very pleasant individual and made note of these points. An overland truck belonging to Intrepid Overland arrived late in the evening and its passengers had very obviously not been told by the on board guide or driver not to disturb other campers and failed to switch off their over powerful led floodlight on the truck when they turned in. Uncharacteristic behaviour from an overland truck company.

We can fully confirm the last comment. We left our camper here for a trip to Mafia and Zanzibar and afterwards for nearly a month to go back to Europe. The beach is beautiful, you can take a boot to the island I. front for snorkeling or take long walks. The resort gas an amazing pool too and we enjoyed the vibe here. Anu was so helpful with everything we needed - very exceptional manager.

We parked our RV at Sunrise Beach Resort for three weeks while traveling to Zanzibar. The vehicle was well guarded and safe there, we even received photos of the car from the manager via WhatsApp. We also generally liked the Sunrise very much, that we spent a total of 5 nights there before and after our trip to Zanzibar. The resort is located away from noisy, bustling Daressalaam on a beautiful stretch of beach where you can have a swim and also take beautiful walks on the beach. You can freely choose your pitch on the large area and we were in the first row with a direct view of the sea between a few coconut palms. We tried the food in the restaurant and were completely amazed. Here, a wide variety of very authentic dishes from Indian cuisine are freshly prepared, which taste absolutely delicious, from chicken tika masala to lentil dal, paneer masala to fish curry and delicious papadam and naan. A clear recommendation! The best, however, are the very friendly and attentive staff, both the service of the restaurant area, the security or at the reception. However, the soul of the resort is the manager Anu from South India. He makes everything possible, takes care of all his guests' concerns and there is no problem that he cannot solve quickly, competently and reliably. Be it printouts for tickets, money transfers or organizational help such as for shuttle services. When we came back from Zanzibar, he had already had prepared a multi-course Indian menu and ice-cold beer for us after we asked on the way back via Whatapp whether it was basically possible to have something to drink and eat after our arrival. The service here is absolutely great! Seabridge and overland buses are also happy to park their vehicles here for a few days when their guests travel to Zanzibar. So call ahead if there is enough space.

We stayed here for one night and didn’t like it very much. We thought the 10$ pp was quite steep for a place at the beach, which was filled with garbage (you actually drive through their garbage collection place to enter the campsite). We were promised hot showers and WiFi at the campsite, neither of those were available. We complained and could make use of the shower in one of their rooms the next morning. The bathrooms you use are the public toilets for day guests as well. They didn’t smell nice and were quite rundown. Overall, probably one of the worst campsites we stayed.

Canping with sea view.
Very good security.

Could leave the car there to go to Zansibar for 10k tsh. per night.
rest as described below

Indeed this could be a perfect campsite but toilets and showers are a bit run down. The beach is amazing especially in the morning. Many locals come for sunset in the beach but atmosphere still quite nice. Every day hundreds of birds fly over to the north during sunset, it's beautiful to watch. Indian food is good but veggie burger not so much. Saturday and Sunday they still put loud music in the restaurant area in the afternoon. Price still 10 usd ppn.

we came back twice. very nice when no dj, you can call to ask if they have a dj for the weekend. lobsters for 25 000 tzs

Report Check-In

10$pp. it could be THE perfect place : shady large spot direct on the beach, friendly staff, calm at night, clean ablution... BUT the music on saturday and sunday afternoons (12 to 19h00) is just too loud. you can go to the dj or the manager to ask to turn it down but it works only for a while. Still, no hesitation to stay here on weekdays.
