Latest Check-Ins

Stayed for two nights, no problem finding a spot on a Thursday and Friday night

Report Check-In

Perfect lakeside spot with pull off areas and tables.

Report Check-In

Nice and quiet, not many other people here when I was. Little to no noise from the highway. It was very windy though, so if you're using a tent, be sure to stake it down tight

Report Check-In

Distant trains and rare truck noise. Geese joined us for dinner on the far end of access road.

Report Check-In

Great little fishing lake with waterfall on the east side of Lake, back in the woods. Nice walking trails and relaxing. Has vault toilet, and picnic tables. Great for a weekend stay.

Report Check-In

Really nice spot! Very windy, lots of ducks. Someone cut firewood for all of the spots. The restroom was gross.. there was a dead snake on the ladies so just be careful/check before loving yourself in 😂

Report Check-In

very nice when we were here. nobody else all night long on a Saturday. however it did get down to 14. that might be why.(;

Report Check-In

Wow did we love this spot! The coyotes howling did freak us out a little the first night, because we have a dog but I think they were on the other side of the lake. The vault toilets were the cleanest I’d ever seen. No trash cans so pack in/pack out. We stayed two nights and will definitely return!

Report Check-In

Good stay, as described.

Got very windy, and cold.

Report Check-In

Great place. Quiet. Secluded. Star gazing was out if this world.

Report Check-In

Great spot with multiple places to park! The first spot on the left when you drive in is the most secluded, but the Verizon reception is not good there so we drove further down to a different spot and it had good Verizon reception. Spots are right on the lake with beautiful views all around. Toilet is still there and in pretty good condition. Highly recommend!!

Awesome place to camp for free! lots of sites along the water, and many have picnic tables.

2 things to know
1) this is a popular day use area and people will be there fishing until the sun goes down
2) maybe I just got really unlucky but maintenance came by at 8 AM with the riding mower to cut the grass at my site, and then came back again at 9 with the weed Wacker. It was a Monday morning, though I'm not sure how often they do this.

Report Check-In

Stayed here for one night in my car. All gravel road. Totally free. The female pit toilet was pretty gross and had lots of bugs and spiders inside and garbage. There’s only one toilet and it’s located about half way down the road. The lake itself was pretty and there were at least 10 areas that had a fire pit and/or a table. And there were plenty more spaces where you can park and camp that didn’t have either of those. If you have a larger group, I would try to go to the very last camping spot. It had quite a bit of space and tree coverage. I got here mid afternoon on a Saturday and there were quite a bit of cars here but most of them ended up leaving by the evening. There is a ton of poison ivy here so beware of that. Hike to the waterfall is really easy and it’s really pretty and refreshing to jump in. The bugs were also very loud.

Fabulous place with lots of sites that could accommodate even up to large rvs!

Spent 2 nights here. Beautiful lakeside camping with a short easy hike to a pretty waterfall! Sites each have fire ring & picnic table. Pit toilets are clean. Only 15 minutes to Tallgrass Prairie National Reserve.

Report Check-In

Quiet little lake, not swimming quality though. A few miles up the road from the small town. Quite a few folks for a Sunday evening. So some traffic driving through…
Train horns to be heard. Pretty clean considering no trash cans. Fish jumping occasionally, and sign says (picture) no shooting rifles.

Beautiful Sunrise, Quite night!

A train went by in the distance a couple of times, but didn't bother us! There is a covered Picnic area & fire pit rings.

No dogs allowed in the water b/c of algae and zebra muscles.

Report Check-In

Nice and clean place. picnic tables and fire rings. We have a 35 RV and a towed vehicle and we were able to find a leveled spot.

Report Check-In

roughly 10 free camping spots along the lake dirt roads, quiet, but a relatively popular place with a lot of cars driving through to check it out or do a day of camping. lot of tents but we had our rig (F150 pulling our 6x10 tiny home) at the end of the camp sites and had plenty of room. everyone that drove by waved + I had a LOVELY chat with two retired chiropractors from Wichita who were fishing while I was soaking up the morning sunshine. they welcomed us to Kansas! we stayed for two nights.

Small state fishing lake. Beautiful waterfalls below the dam.

Report Check-In

Such a wonderful camping spot. Safe, peaceful, windy. We just loved it ! Spots are even for campervans as well.

Report Check-In

Such a gorgeous, random little spot! We stayed here on a Saturday night and only saw one other group - a quiet family tent camping. There are 10 ish spots scattered along 3 different gravel loops, some sites offering a little more privacy than others. Most had small fire pits. The vault toilet was surprisingly pretty clean. No water or trash cans so be prepared to pack in & pack out. We felt safe at night, and the stars were incredible! The lake is pretty and had a few visitors on Sunday morning coming to fish. The prairie grass and rolling hills added to the beauty — overall we were really grateful to have found this place. You can’t ask for much more out of a free spot in Kansas! Be sure to visit and hike some of the National Prairie Grass Reserve just a few miles away.
