Description

Great site up in the mountains outside of Jilotepec. It’s 25 mx per person and we camped in our van. No electricity, water or showers. Latrines and covered picnic areas available. Nice tent sites and a couple cabanas available too. Telcel is spotty. Park is guarded 24hrs by local police.

Amazing rock climbing!!! It’s like an indoor gym outside! So many features. Pretty good range from 5.9-14’s.
Town is 15 minute drive with everything you could need.

Still 25 pesos per person. Toilets are pretty gross, but all in all a safe place to spend a night surrounded by trees. In the next morning we packed our stuff about 9 am and the guard visited us and wanted to charge us for another day. We told him, we will leave in the next 5 minutes and he accepted.
So I think if you want to stay longer than 9am you need to buy a new ticket.

We didn’t try the climbing but can recommend this place for safe camping.

Awesome climbing place in the forest up the mountain! Great camping spot as well, quiet (we stayed thurs-sat). Sports climbing, single pitch mainly, but a large variety of routes. Some multi pitch supposedly as well, but we didn’t check it out. Friendly locals who will let you tag along if you’re not finding routes.

I’m just adding info on arriving, because we were missing it. If you want to go climbing, you should park at the higher parking. Enter the gate and pass by the first camping area on the left. Drive further until a split in the road and keep left (the lower lane). Drive on until the road reaches a dead end. Here people park. Best place for camping is at the dead end, because there’s more sun for solar panels. From the dead end there’s two bigger paths further. The upper one leads to flush toilets (only open during the weekend) and the lower one to latrines on the left side of the path.

Price is still $25 pp p/day.

As mentioned below- awesome spot to camp and climb. Climbing in on conglomérate with pebbles to large blocs. We camped in the upper parking lot close to the largest climbing zones. Flush toilets are open on weekends and holidays. There are also out toilets available during the week. Is quite busy on the weekends and loud into the early hours. $25 per person per day fee to be in the park. Town is a 15 min drive for anything you might need. Would highly recommend.

Camped there for few days, the place is quiet, secure and full of great climbing close by. 25 pesos / pers / night.

Awesome climbing if that's your thing and a peaceful and secure place to spend the night regardless. Seems to be aimed at tent campers - we're in a van and couldn't find the upper flush toilets mentioned below, perhaps only accessible on foot? We parked at the lower area with pit toilets. Playground was pretty basic and strewn with glass unfortunately but ok. It was a challenge to find a level(ish) spot but we had the entire place to ourselves. Still 20 pesos per person on a Monday night.

Spent two nights at this place (Saturday and Sunday night). On Sunday @ 7AM we woke up to the sound of loud banda music coming from a group of locals hanging there after a party.
The area is well known for this sort of visitors during weekends.
Besides that many rockclimbers camp there so it’s pretty safe.
Even if the caretaker charges you and assures you the park closes at 6PM we found out the gate stays open and people still show up at night.
Better to camp than to stay in the car.

really nice spot for camping in the forest (and climbing).
accessible for all kind of rigs.

there are basically two areas to camp:
one area right after the entrance on the left hand side. nice picnic areas and playground, pit toilets; also some cabanas
another area up the hill (newly prepared road), where you find pit toilets but also ones with running water. there are also designated areas for tents with fire places.

price for entry increased to 25 pesos per person kind of. the second day, the guy came by and sold us tickets for 20 pesos per pesos. Maybe its more expensive on the weekend. We stayed for two nights.
I think the ticket booth closes at 5 pm and opens at 9 am. I added the park rules in a picture.

maybe worth noting: I think there are a couple of stray dogs living in the forest. we went for a morning run and scared them away when they saw us. they are very shy.
