Description

It's very expensive to stay overnight, you have to pay 12 pesos per hour! The man at the gate calculated wrong, be aware.
We tried numerous places in Toluca including the large Parque Alameda (shuts at 6pm, no camping) the cultural area with the museums and library (friendly, took us to the main office but no to staying there) and the University Sports field around the corner. Ended up at Walmart and, as a double whammy, a Walmart that charges by the hour to park. they were happy to let us stay overnight. the gates close at 11pm, opening 7 am.

Strong LTE, toilets inside along with all the usual Walmart goodies.as a bonus there is a Lavanderia attached on the right of the main doors so you can get a clean done. A guy in the car park washes your vehicle of you like too. Feels safe and quiet-ish considering it's off a main road.

Report Check-In

Just want to clarify that the 2.6 m is the absolute hight limit now and they appear to have gone out of their way to make sure of it.

Report Check-In

Only one entrance off the main highway has access for vehicles over 2.6m. We had to run around to find someone to unlock the chain, then again to find someone to give us a ticket, then again in the morning to get out. But it's worth the effort. Nevada Toluca is too high to sleep. This seems to be the only reasonable night stop in the area. We had a nice ready-roast chicken and a peaceful night sleep 😁. 8 pesos per hour.

Report Check-In

Tired of driving and didn’t want to drive up the mountain while tired. There is only one entrance where tall rigs (2.6m limit on entrance)are allowed...second entrance off the main road. Will have to ask the person in the booth to drop the chain.

Report Check-In

as described. quiet and safe. nothing special but the best we could find after hiking the rim traverse and wanting to get down from the elevation. camped here for a night with some fellow overlanders. grassy spot for dog to pee/poo, several strays around - one was friendly with our dog, the other no interaction. walmart validates 2hrs of parking, otherwise 8 pesos/hr. — see photo
