Description

Two campsites, one in the kloof (currently undergoing renovations) and another remote campsite with spring fed rock pool. The wild campsite is however the nicest as it is up near the escarpment and a few km from anybody else. The wild campsite has a natural spring fed rock pool which is dependent on the water table levels. Shower is heated via donkey boiler. A flush toilet and running water is available at the wild camp site. Wood for the donkey and braai is provided. A 4x4 of hi ground clearance vehicle is required to reach the WILD CAMP. The facilities are basic but clean and usable. Not a white tiled ablution type facility but ideal fro wild camping and self sufficient campers. Abseiling, basic rock climbing, hiking and horse riding can be arranged with notice.
Cell phone coverage with data connection is available on high ground only.

Buffalo Gorge has two camp sites. The main camp is accessible with a normal vehicle with high clearance , but a hi rider or 4x4 is recommended to access the Wild Camp. This camp is currently undergoing renovations. At the lower camp there is a set up tent with private shower and flush toilet in a rustic setting. It is basic r but clean and comfortable with fountain water on. There are a few pieces of equipment for kids such as a seesaw and a slide. The owner will also clean and fill the plastic swimming pool with clean, un chlorinated fountain water prior to your visit. The flush toilets are screened but open air. The showers are fed hot water from a donkey and are made from old tanks. with concrete floors. Clean and very nice to shower in but not the most aesthetic :-). The Wild Camp is remote and has a shower with donkey hot water and a single flush toilet and a rock pool . It has a great view and is my favorite place to camp especially for wild camping. The facilities are basic, but the owner is friendly and ample wood is provided for free. It is not the place to go if you want white tiles ablutions and electricity at your camp site, but a great place to camp away from the crowds yet still have pure fountain water and the comforts of a white enamel flush toilet and a warm shower.
