Panama
We originally went to Autostar, Mercedes Benz Trucks which is nearby. After spending 3 nights on their carpark they said that they couldn't help us as the had no spare parts which would have to come from Germany.
Mercedes suggested we came here so we did. They started working on almost immediately.
They identified both an oil and a diesel leak. They rectified the diesel and after a test drive they let the engine cool down to work on the cylinder head which had been replaced in San José, Costa Rica.
Following day we test drove again and oil leak rectified too. No spare parts needed, especially from Germany.
These guys seem to know their business. Heard the sound of torque wrenches being used which I didn't hear in Costa Rica.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
it is now a Hyunday place where they do body work. no more garage here
Report Check-InAfter having our leaks sorted out we went for a drive up to Colon. That night it started raining at 5.30pm and never stopped. The following day we headed back to PC but the road was flooded. We were ok driving through but a stupid driver coming in the opposite direction created too much wave and our engine got flooded.
We returned to Auto Mercantil and Eric stripped the engine down. We needed 4 piston heads and 2 rods along with new gaskets etc.
No problem they could get them from Colombia???
They had us back in the road within 2 weeks.
We were also allowed to stay in our truck during that time with electric hook-up, access to the baños and fresh water.
Laundry across the road and supermarkets within walking distance.
So glad Mercedes-Benz Autostar recommended this place.
Bit noisy with trucks coming and going but it is what it is.
Highly recommended.
