Open camp sites in the middle of a tall pine forest. About 5 minutes off Lake Mary Road. Huge open areas with lots of places to choose from. Some spots have rock fire pits.
Why? By checking in after you’ve visited a place you let others know this place is still functional. You can also add or correct any information.
This place was packed when I arrived mid-week the middle of October. I was able to find a spot that wasn't too close for comfort, but expect to have a lot of neighbors. Dirt road was fine for any vehicle. Surprisingly quiet based on the number of campers. Verizon signal bounced between 1-3 bars.
Report Check-Inplenty of room for RVs at the north end of the lake. Don't go to the west (left) side. nothing but rocks and weekend parties. 38ft class A with a Jeep fit on the right side of the lake road with some effort. This place is very popular and busy.
Report Check-InStayed at this place for two weeks while visiting the Flagstaff/Sedona area. There was a bunch of trash at the site I was at and it looked like others had a some too. On my second to last day, someone stole all my stuff from my site so watch out!
Report Check-Inlots of open spaces. parts of the road can be muddy. some abandoned trailers and tents in the area. t-mobile 5g is strong up here
Report Check-Innice remote campsite above lower lake may. road is a bit rocky and rutted. some abandoned campsites (trailers and tents). t-mobile 5g is strong up here
Report Check-InCrowded, even for a Sunday night. Not a bad little spot honestly, but too crowded for my liking. Found a nice spot on this road but then a huge RV parked next to me and too many screaming children for me. So I ended up leaving before the place god more crowded. Might be nice once schools back in session. Less crowded.
Report Check-InBeautiful pine forest. Many spots well spread out. Numerous with fire rings as well and plenty of dead fall to burn (an ax and saw will help). some of the roads are well rutted but plenty of access for most any vehicles.
Report Check-InThis is a great area close to Flagstaff. It is quite popular, but you should be able to find a spot. Iwas getting good T-Mobile service- enough for streaming. park rangers patrol several times a day. Site is just below the Lowell Observatory where they discovered Pluto.
Report Check-InThis spot has everything we are looking for : private space, quiet, pines, fire pit and amazing starry sky !
Report Check-Inso beautiful up here. just listening to the pine trees sway in the wind. so quiet. thank god for beautiful country. this spot is not for small cars. the dips are deep at points. My big RV was swaying lol.
Report Check-In4/2/2020: There is a gate blocking the road. National forest website says nothing about this area being closed due to Covid-19.
4/27/2020: Dispersed camping is now open. Lots of people, but easy to find a private spot if you go past the lake.
Report Check-InThe forest road leading here is closed from December through February.

Report Check-InNice area. The lake doesn’t have any water in it though. I didn’t camp here because I couldn’t get a strong enough and consistent Verizon signal to be able to work every day. It kept wavering between 1-3 LTE and 3G Bars. I was surprised by how many ppl were here on a Monday considering everywhere I went in Sedona was pretty empty.
Plenty of water to SUP on down below at upper Mary lake though - little muddy.
Report Check-InWife and I tried out our new tent here and it was amazing. Roads are easy for the most part. Only “bad thing” is, it was very crowded but we managed to snag a pretty good spot. It was also 4th of July crowd most likely. Awesome time, beautiful weather and peaceful place. We’ll be back!
Report Check-InA few campers spread out with plenty of space. Fire pits, easy access to the lakes. Perfect spot for boondock camping
Report Check-InNice and relaxing. Plenty of room this time of year. Temps around 75.. fire pit every 200 yards. Not sure what this means for other times of the season. Might be a circus?
Report Check-InFire pits, mild weather, flat ground, plenty of burnables, and a lake down the road that’s good for washing. Not super busy and no USFS patrolling your every move. Flagstaff is just down the road for quick runs. It’s been private and quiet. Love the pines of Coconino.
