Description

New phone number: +51 949-660-248 (Amelia's son)
The old number: +51 945 844 801 still works as well, just more difficult to get through. The old number is on WhatsApp, fast answer!

20S/ person
Very nice, peaceful spot. No loud bar/ club music. Good Wi-Fi. The entry is a bit narrow (238 cm) but there is not a height limit. Not good for wide campers.

only place we found. if you need for one day, it is doable. but dirty and it is not a place that was takeb care.

Report Check-In

I couldn't contact them via WhatsApp, so I went there in person, but the door was locked and no one was there. I visited again the next day and it was the same. Be sure to contact them in advance before going.

Report Check-In

Well located in Huanchaco, nice terrace overlooking the sea. more than the restaurants , they have a (really) annoying dog... If you stay a few days you might have to be moving your van out and in to let other travelers exit...
If you need to go to a mechanic, I would advise not to go to the one they will recommend... There is however another guy in the same area, Segundo, who does good welding job. He repaired my doors and the lock of my hood.

Report Check-In

practically one of the only sites in Huanchaco and Trujillo. It is in the middle of a restaurant area which makes it a bit noisy during the day. until 11 p.m. the site is a bit narrow for large cars. I think in a busy season only 4 medium cars will fit. the owners are friendly. services are basic. the advantage is that you are in front of the sea.

Report Check-In

Spend one night here it is a nice place and the owners are really nice. We didn’t call or text ahead but there was space no problem.

Report Check-In

We spend 3 beautiful nights here in our motorhome. Perfect location, nice open kitchen area. Restaurants around but quiet at night. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

We spent 4 nights here in July 2023 and really liked it. Very peaceful, right in front of the ocean and extremely kind owners. Despite the other comments, the place was well looked after while we were there. The house is a bit older and therefore the bathrooms as well but it was clean. The garden was really nice and they even made sure to keep the puppy on the balcony upstairs. We definitely recommend this place. :)

Report Check-In

Víctor is very friendly, but the place is very dirty. Bathroom was a bit disgusting and the place seems as no one take care of it. It's a pity. 40s/2p/n.

Report Check-In

Parking can certainly be a bit crowded and only space for 3 SUV sized vehicles but it is a good little spot with super friendly hosts. Right across the beach with some good surfing options and not a far walk to around the pier if you want to surf off the point.

Do any shopping you need in Trujillo before coming, there are minimal options in Huanchaco and we weren’t that impressed with the local market.

Report Check-In

We tried to contact the phones that are here, and we couldn't talk to the owners of the hostel, so we came straight. We arrived on a Monday night, and who attended us was a camping guest. There were two campers that occupied almost all the space for camping. At the end, we managed to fit the three cars + Amelia's car when she arrived. We paid 25 soles per person and had a quiet night.
_________

Report Check-In

We stayed here 3 nights and only because we kind of had to, definitely can't recommend. The good things first:
- nice garden
-some shade
- good location.
But
- the bathroom is very dirty, looks like it hasn't been cleaned in months! Thick layers of sand, dust and dirt. Only the toilet seat maybe gets cleaned sometimes but not while we were there (and others were toas well). Leftover items like toothbrushes lying around and pieces of soap stuck to the shower. The trashcan is only emptied when it is overflowing. It is 20 sol pppn and all they would have to do for this money is clean this small bathroom but they don't.
- the kitchen is dirty too
-we used the washing machine which is 10 sol. But the washing machine left some grey layer of dirt on some items. This is usually caused by dirt inside the machine. I ended up rewashing some things by hand.
- they now have a puppy. And this sounds nice but it is not being raised of course. So it poops everywhere. And it tries to eat anything. We travel with a cat and although they also have two cats, the puppy wouldn't leave our cat alone for a second. Their own cats also clearly dislike the dog. Don't get me wrong, it is not the puppies fault. What really annoyed us is that the dog soon became our problem. They leave the uncontrolled puppy in the garden with us and then they go inside to relax and watch TV oor something. We felt like free dogsitters! On Saturday they even left for 8 hours leaving the dog with us! After a few hours we had enough of its constant biting etc and put it over the lie fence which was fixed in the open front door. Then of course the puppy starred barking etc.
On Sunday they told us they were going to Lima. Also a bit strange that they constantly left basically leaving us in charge. I then told them that we weren't going to look after the puppy again, she actually disagreed with that! But eventually called her son to come dog sit. Nu obviously we didn't feel happy about all of this.
- the WiFi is very slow, we weren't able to make a decent WhatsApp video call.
We had hoped this was a nice place to rest for at least a week, but it definitely isn't.

Report Check-In

Its an okay place if only one car is camping. We where squeezing with two other overlanders and the car of the owner. That was not so nice. So better call before and ask if its busy. Bathroom okay. Clean water for refill. Good wifi. We paid 20 Soles each.

Report Check-In

At the moment quite loud during the day because of construction at the next building.

In general, the only bathroom is really dirty and disgusting. It has not been cleaned for several days.

Would not recommend to stay here.

Report Check-In

nice we could stay here in Amelia's garden. everything fine.

Report Check-In

what a great place! we had to wait for parts from the US here and stayed for a month. this place has everything you would want in a place you have to stay this long in. nice grassy area with a shady common area with a gas stove to use. washing machine for clothes to hang dry. hot showers, it's actually a hot water tank that needs to be turned on before use. she says 20 minutes, but I would say at least 30 minutes if you want it to get really hot. there is a reverse osmosis water system here for drinking water because the tap water isn't very good. nice views of the ocean from the roof viewpoint. totally fenced in for our dogs. they have 4 cats and a tortoise. good location in town and the corner store a block a way has just about everything you need and fair prices. Amelia and Victor are awesome hosts but you should message them via WhatsApp as they aren't always here. victor replied on the "old" number in a few minutes. the gate is 270cm wide

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Great place to stay. 20 soles p.p.
I talked to them on WhatsApp before our arrival (+51 945 844 801)

went there two days in a row, no response to doorbell, rattling the gate. one phone number apparently wrong, the other disconnected. Webaddress unknown. Hope you have more luck!

Report Check-In

We stayed here for 2 nights. 20sol pppn. Beautiful cozy place with room for around 3 vans. The entrance is a bit narrow but we fitted with our gmc savana. Place is directly at the boulevard and quiet by night. Lovely roof terrace to sit and relax with a beer. Amelia is a super host and start cleaning the relax area after we arrived. Nice kitchen to use and bathroom was pretty clean. Hot water but low pressure. And potable filtered water unlimited. The wifi was strong and fast!

Report Check-In

We stayed for two nights and paid 20 Sol p.P.p.N. The site is a littlebit run down. The bathroom was more or less clean. A hot shower with low pressure is possible. Luis (guard) is friendly and like to share a Pisco with you. Don't forget to announce on the phone of Amelia (old number).

Report Check-In

Had a lovely 4 day stay here. Amelia doesn't speak English but we made it work. Payed 20 soles/day solo with a car/camper. 10 soles for washing machine. Huanchaco is a town you love more every day you spend there. Bathroom was as described (bit dirty) and the shower was cold, but the wifi was fast. Recommended!

Report Check-In

Amelia, Victor and Tito were too kind. Perfect location just opposite the beach. Very private, we were on our own and surprisingly quiet. Nice outdoor kitchen and lounge area. Our Fiat Ducato fitted in nicely. Anything wider might be a challenge to get through the gate. Paid S 35 for 2 pax and motorhome

Report Check-In

A very nice place! Amelia is very friendly. The garden is comfy and you can direclty check the wave from the roof top terrace. The beach is just across the road!
30sol for 2 psn

Report Check-In

Cross the street and you are at the beach. Inside Like a small oasis. Very friendly but she increased the price - 35 for van and 2 persons.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay, very recomended. Matrimonial for 50$, clean, good WIFI, parking two motorbikes, kitchen for share, nice terrace and view to the pacific

Report Check-In

As described below and very nice - super convenient location. A real treat after a long drive south through the desert. They even cleaned up the notoriously dirty bathroom while we were here.

Report Check-In

none of the street parking options felt safe so we ended up staying at Amelia's. nice people, hot and clean shower.

Report Check-In

Nice place to stay near Trujillo
Spacy for 3rigs.
Nice kitchen and shower.
Must : potable water with no taste
15s pppn

Report Check-In

Greatest spot I have stayed my entire trip so far coming up from the South. Stumbled upon this gem. Absolute cracker of a spot in Huanchaco. Up the quiet end of the beach. Beautiful owners.
Fantastic balcony to watch the waves.
Huanchaco itself is incredible. Great vibes, a fair few tourists, and the best part was consistently good surf the entire week I was there.
Couldn't recommend this place more.

Report Check-In

We stayed one night at this friendly family‘s yard. When we were there the bathroom was clean and the shower hot (there is a switch in the bedroom beside). Beautiful place to stay, we could go on the terrace on top with ocean view. Still 15.- soles pppn.

Report Check-In

Stayed a night at Amelias since it just didn’t feel so good to us at the beach road. It also rained in the night so the parking across along the road turned into total mud.
Amelia is super friendly, she has a smallish yard to park. We managed to get in (and out), another overlander joined but then you are parked in! It was not a problem for us since we both just stayed a night but something to be aware off. Amelia is super friendly, lets not talk about the bathroom, all has been said about it.
We filled up with water in the morning and all was good.

Report Check-In

Nice place, Amela is very friendly. Pretty good located, directly in the beach. Wifi is fast. The kitchen is dirty and the bathroom super dirty, worst on the whole trip...don‘t know why the don‘t clean it.

Report Check-In

Nice garden setup. Nice lady. Dirty bathroom. Cold shower.

Report Check-In

We loved staying here. Nice places to hang out, good surf, fast Wi-Fi, hot showers. 15pp. It was hard to leave

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Amelia is a wonderful host! Small hostel with space for 3 overland vehicles. Highly recommend contacting in advance if you are arriving late in the day. Hot showers, kitchen area, potable water, right across the street from the beach, very close to a number of restaurants. Accepted our small dog with open arms.

Entry is wide enough for standard width vehicles, our econoline fit without folding the mirrors.

Report Check-In

Lovely, friendly and cosy place. The sanitary and kitchen aren’t the cleanest, however there is everything you need including a hot rain shower, really great! (You need to wait a bit longer than 10 min after you put the switch on for the hot water). WiFi was excellent when we were there as the only guests. Amalia is very helpful and we could finally do the laundry at the house. 10 soles for a big machine! Nice location too, in front of the sea.

Report Check-In

Great spot, very friendly m, 15sol pp even during semana Santa! Recommended

Report Check-In

Stayed 2 nights here. Quiet n tranquil nights. As we were the only camper here so we have the whole facilities to ourselves. Amelia as ever is friendly.

Report Check-In

We love Casa Amelia!! We stayed here 2 years ago, and we are back again. Amelia and Victor (owners) are a very kind couple that will make you feel welcome at all times! Beautiful garden that fits 3 vans and rooms for backpackers. Outdoors kitchen, good wifi and hot showers. Pet friendly- they have a cat (Isidoro) that got along with our 3 cats! Great place to meet other overlanders. The parking space is limited, and when the one in the back needs to move then we all needed to move, but everyone was very accommodating! Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

We stayed here 16 days waiting for our tires. Not really really idyllic but no other alternatives in the area. It's not a campsite but just the entrance to a house. The sanitary and outdoor kitchen are dirty and outdated. We did the cleaning to be able to use them. In good conditions it is good for 2 vans or pickup-cells, no more. But profitability requires we have been crammed to 4. If a traveler who is basically wants to get everyone out. The worst is when you come back from shopping and say that you come back and pushed your holds and power cable to install someone else. Really not cool.

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Report Check-In

Really nice place ! Lovely owners. The pizzas party with others travelers was an amazing moment.
An IOverlander spirit place !

Report Check-In

Amazing spot! We ended up staying here 5 nights with a bunch of other overlanders, sharing stories, routes, and even having our own pizza night! Quick access to the beach and restaurants, great surf spot. Beautiful garden, hot showers, potable water, outdoor kitchen with grill and pizza oven, this place was great. The company made it even better. Highly recommended!

Report Check-In

love this place! one of my favourite places I've stayed so far. totally worth paying the 15soles. I stayed 5 nights.
- great wifi
- pizza oven & BBQ
- wash your clothes
- chill and quiet
- roof terrace
- lovely owner
- nice showers
- GREAT!

Report Check-In

we had a very quiet night here. 15pp sleeping in the camper. with our sprinter camper van no problems to enter through the gate (mirrors folded inward). amelia was very nice. shower was warm- not hot. good wifi.

Report Check-In

15 soles per person, 5 year old free. Electric included and potable water! Nice garden and great places to relax. We were only ones here, and it's great access to beach and town. You can watch the surfers right from the deck. We managed to squeeze through that gate with a Dodge Ram, with slide in camper, and both mirrors folded in. Our legs on the camper came within a sliver of hitting the door frame, but we made it though clean!

Report Check-In

Amelia is an incredible sweet and friendly woman. We felt really at home at her place. Unfortunately we could only stay one night (because we need to be in Lima tomorrow), but we would have liked to stay longer because the place was so nice.

Report Check-In

wonderful welcoming place for overlanders and Backpackers alike. Excellent facilities and Amelia the host is amazing. Highly recommended.

Report Check-In

if you can fit this is definitely a great spot for an overlander. the gate has no height restriction but it’s 94” (238 cm) wide. we have a sprinter van and barely made it with our mirrors folded in.

good fast wifi. nice kitchen. hot shower. nice hammock area. super quiet at night. best sleep in a while.

i contacted via whatsapp to arrange the stay.

a little steep at 55 soles a night but we are 4 people and a dog and we didn’t bargain.

Report Check-In

15 Soles pp/night. You can park your camper in the garden and use the toilet and shower, kitchen. Nice and quiet. Amelia and her husband are very friendly and helpful.
Not for big rigs - the entrace door is probably 2.2m wide (no height restriction).

Report Check-In

really nice place, stayed 2 nights, a double room was $60sol per night. a little pricey but it's a nice place and wifi works everywhere. kitchen with a real fridge too. gated yard with secure parking for motos and cars. would recommend staying a day or 3 and just sitting in the hammock

Report Check-In

It’s a very low key brown gate between to restaurants. It has space for 2-3 vans/cars.

Bathroom and shower to use. Loverly searing area, BBQ, fridge/freezer, cooker, kitchen area with table, under cover and seating sofas. Has a sea view balcony with hammocks.

Amelia has a cat so cat friendly dogs are welcome.

It’s right on the seafrontvand a short walk to more of the shops, ect but plenty on your doorstep.

Report Check-In

We stayed two days. Good internet, Amelia is incredibly welcoming. Pretty tight fit for our full-size Chevy pickup to get inside the garden. No overhead restriction, but we had to fold in a mirror to make it inside the narrow gate. If you have a full-size truck with camper that extends beyond the sides of the truck or anything larger you won't fit.

We did manage to squeeze our truck, a vanagon, a Defender 130, and a Nissan Xterra+RTT, but it was cozy.

Clean bathrooms, right next to the ocean (you can hear the waves) and no loud neighbors while we were there. We probably would have just stayed along the beach nearby, but it was the weekend and things can get crazy.. Amelia's turned out to be a great decision though. :)

Report Check-In

Lovely spot and a very warm welcome from Amelia and Victor who quite literally welcome travelers into their home. Space for 3 smallish rigs.

Report Check-In

As stated... simple rooms, good vibes, and right on the malecón. Three vehicles fit while we were here— the in and out gets complicated, but they’re totally willing to work with you. Highly recommended. These guys make you feel right at home 33S per night for a room.

Report Check-In

Amelia asked me to update her phone number to: +51 959-660-248

The number from the web (+51 945 844 801) still works, but she prefers the other.

Both husband and wife are very sweet, helpful, and accommodating. A nice place to stop for the night or spend a couple of days.

Report Check-In

Really great place!!! Amelia and Victor are so nice! Not easy to find (just a woody portal with a little indication "Amelia". Not so big, 2 campervans, bug nice home, nice view on the beach (with sunset!!!) and familiar environement! The town is also really good. (advice: ask to Victor to taste his pisco sour!) 15 Soles pp in van, 30 in room

Report Check-In

We were here at 3PM and found no one there. Found the previous host Paul at the Atma. He has nothing to do with Amelia anymore. The new owner travels sometime, so this may be the reason why we didn’t find anyone. We were forced to the RV park.

Do yourself a favor and have a drink while enjoying the sunset in the terrace!

Very friendly donna and a quiet and beautiful place to stay. Toilets and shower, even caliente, clean and peaceful. We highly recommend this place.

Report Check-In

Very nice place to stay. Small grassy area direct at the beach where you could watch the sundown from the rooftop. Amelia the owner is very friendly. You could also use the kitchen in- and outdoors. We paid 30 Soles a night for two and a small van. Big rigs will not fit, because the entrance gate is too small. Recommended stay.

As of March 1 this place including parrot and cat have new owners. Doing some much needed renovation. Are happy to receive overlanders, shower and bathroom work, rooms are still under renovation. New owners are very nice and welcoming. Price 15 sol p/p.

Report Check-In

We enjoyed it here so much we stayed for a month. Paul, plus helpers Gill and Shanan really made it a welcoming place. There was a constant flow of great people, many returning, Parked our VW in the garden, joined by another vehicle a few times too. Great location just across from the sea. The place changed hands a couple of days after we left, with Paul opening up his own place just around the corner to be called Atma or Hostal Atma I think which I am sure will be a great place due to his hospitality. I believe the owners of the building who had previously leased it to Paul have now taken over Amelia.

Report Check-In

Guesthouse with places for 2 campers max. Very friendly.

Report Check-In

Awesome place, very chilled, good wifi, quiet in spite of the proximity to a fairly main road, a 10 second walk from the beach. They normally only take 1 van/camper (no room for big rigs and they've only got 2 bathrooms), but we managed to convince them that we could fit too which they were super nice about (also helped that their dorms weren't full at the time either).

Report Check-In

One of the nicest places to stay we had. Close from the beach, friendly and relaxed atmosphere, lots of animals around(including a parrot that laughs at you sometimes), hammocks... 15 soles pp
Normally Paul, the owner, allows just one camper, but he let us stay with together with Caudalosa America's Land Rover as well. Managed to open the rooftop tent too :)

Report Check-In

Awesome place! Our sprinter fit when we pulled the mirrors in. 15 soles pp, right across from beach. Great waves! Grab a long board and have fun.

20soles pp wifi fast hot shawer kitchen goodace

Report Check-In

Welcoming and friendly staff. It's cheaper to camp here than the RV park and appears to be much nicer. I'd check here before heading to other options to see if Paul has space.

Report Check-In

Great place. I think they prefer only one vehicle but for a couple of nights we shared the space with another vw bus. Paul is great, very friendly and helpful. There are 4 rabbits now and they got along with our 3 cats!! Small stores nearby and buses to to Trujillo and the Chan Chan ruins. Electricity available with a long extension cord. It is 15 soles per person but Paul made us a discount for a longer stay.

Report Check-In

Great place to relax. The beach is just across the street and there are many restaurants in waking distance. There is only space for one vehicle and the gate is quite narrow.
