Description

We were being stopped on our way to the Peruvian border. Aduana officers told us that TIP needed to be in our name not in the person's name we were driving the car in. Repeatedly said it would cost us more than 700 USD and we needed to show up with original TIP holder to get car back unless "we were able to find a solution". Threatened to impound our bags as well. Luckily, we could call the Ecuadorian notary who created our poder - not sure what would've happened elsewise. Reluctantly let us go.

Latest Check-Ins

We were stopped and got a complaint about a crack in our windshield. They wanted to impound the vehicle for seven days. After some discussion we told them that we have to call our Ecuadorian brother in law to confirm. They walked away for two minutes, then gave us back our papers and we could continue driving.

Report Check-In

Lunes 4 p.m. justo estaban por poner los conos, eran como 6 oficiales, por suerte los pasamos.

Report Check-In

There is still a checkpoint. But nobody controlled us.

Report Check-In

We were stopped but it was just a document check for us. No issues at all and no questions about first aid kits, extinguishers etc.

Report Check-In

Checkpoint did seem a little odd - the officer tried to tell us our vehicle was too high with our Thule box to be able to fit through the border and we’d have to take it off... I just said it won’t be a problem and he told us to go ahead. It was strange but we didn’t have an issue.

Report Check-In

Officers wanted to see my emergency triangle, which I hadn't with me on my Motorcycle. One of them wanted to let me pay a fine for that. Showed him this iOverlander report and told him that this place must be famous for the Police wanting money from tourists. He immediately gave me my Passport, license etc. back and went to another car.
