Three acts of crime by passing vehicles last year. They now have security to watch over at night, and cameras. They also have new ablution blocks. Drinking water available if you ask, as well as electricity to charge from solar. They definitely seem to be working on improving things.

If you arrive and nobody is around, like me, just wait. Manager lives across the road. N$100.

Violent attack on elderly couple here . Tied up , robbed threatened with violence and injured . Attack confirmed by police and various newspaper reports besides the couple themselves . Be careful in this area there are bad people on the roads .

1 feb 2023. Site looked horrible. Trees and bush were burned black just right of the campground. No shadow at the riverside. Brown water from the tap.

For a Richtersveld experience, the road between Noordoever and Oranjemund has everything for free for which you have to pay an entrance fee on the other side of the river. The campsite has shade, grass and a donkey hotwater shower. Ablutions were reasonably clean and I think good value for money for N$86-00 pppn. I paid N$200-00 for the 2 of us as the camp attendant hasn't got change! Yes, it does look a bit neglected but still better than I can remember from years past on the otherside of the river. NWR resorts have the reputation in Namibia of a drop in standards (Etosha, AI-Ais, etc). Same is valid for our National Parks in SA! The road is 2x4 friendly and there is luxury accomodation at both ends, so for a Richtersveld experience I can highly recommend coming here i.s.o. on the other side of the river. Campsite has a nice beach for swimming and canoe hire is N$150-00.

We just stayed for a lunch and a nap (ofcourse our own lunch). Many monkeys around.
Everything looks green and okay. The ablutions were dirty, but working.
Nobody came to ask what we want...

We were the only ones. There was nobody when we arrived but manager lives across the road and came as soon as we put up our rooftoptent. He asked 150 ND pppn, but I saw in the NWR register book that everybody payed 80. He immediately agreed... Fire wood is 50 ND and quite a big pile.

Nice, flat grassy campsites with good shade. Ablutions are fairly rundown in the typical fashion, but they were clean and functional. Outdoor showers had hot water 24/7 from the boiler. Nice river-side spot with cheerful caretakers. Kayak and canoe rentals available. The bar/kitchen was closed for the season when we were there.

Very basic campsite with basics like toilets and showers are available. Climb a hill and watch the mountains change colour. Recommended if you like off the grid camping. busy upgrading the campsite

Nice green grass and plenty of shade. N$80 pp. Access to the river and you can also hire kayaks.

Drove past on the way to fish river canyon. Looked quite green with many picnic tables. Did not stay but could see ablutions and canoes.
