Calle Espana: to avoid crazy fees from ATMs bring $$ and change to pesos. Price almost the exchange rate. very friendly. They all stand around and often have a calculator hanging out their pocket! Quite obvious which ones they are.

This is helpful. These guys aren’t dodgy (obviously double check for fakes), easy transaction and great rate, almost the blue dollar online rate. 100 dollar bills get a better rate than 50s.
Report Check-Inwhen going to the museum near here at least 10 people asked if we were looking for cambio. kind of overwhelmed, I stopped by the pharmacy on the corner to get some medication and asked for his recommendation. he pointed out who he said was his cousin and gave me 35000 for a 100usd bill. I didn't catch his name but he had a cleft lip and didn't speak much.
Report Check-Injust general info that might be helpful for those not aware: use western union. yes, theyre expensive for everything else, but if you send yourself money from your credit card or bank sccount via the app and pick it up at any wu place the rate is crazy good. you pay 5euros for up to 1000euros transfer and you get 92peso per1euro atm - offical rate around 65peso.
how to: download WU app, make an account, send cash from your bank account or credit card for cash pickup in argentina, put yourself or travel mate as the receiver and you or they can pick it up with the transaction no and passport all over argentina. best rate youll get, and lowest fee too. though everyone should know.
spread the word friends!
Still very great exchange rate with these guys, much better than ATM. I made $20USD changing Chileno pesos vs what I would have received at the ATM not even factoring the ATM fee as well.
Report Check-Inas for September 2019 exchange rate is better than in official exchange offices (61 pesos for 1usd, official rate 57)
