Still closed for renovations, but allow those who are self-sufficient to park for 10,000 shillings per car for a day.

Report Check-In

It’s still closed today and we don’t know when it will open

Report Check-In

Maweni Farm is no longer closed, we met with the new owner in April 2021. He is refurbishing and expanding, with the view to re-open in June. However, camping facilities will no longer be available, only the guest house/hotel will be operational.

Report Check-In

Despite the checkin below, we checked it out. The caretaker said they were not open ‘today’, but locals already warned us the lodge is closed. There is a big log/tree blocking entry to the lodge, so don’t count on staying here.

Report Check-In

After trying to get a reservation by email, sms and phone, we got no answer. When we arrived at the gate, they told us, that the management had problems and that we could not stay there. The farm seemed to be empty without any guests.

High up in the mountains and after a beautiful drive looking down into the valley we arrived at Maweni. The building was built in the 1940s and is amazing. The campsite was all we needed with our RTT and close to the shower and toilet that had nice hot water. Instead of cooking we had dinner which was nice and afterwards sat at the open fire in the lounge. The owner, Lars, made us feel at home and was proud to show us the whole place. He took care of our every need. We did not have breakfast there due to an early departure but did have a coffee and tea in the dining area which is on the house before we left. Go there, you will not be disappointed.

Report Check-In

Nice enough, but no real campsite. Owners and staff very friendly. Was t sure what to charge us and suggested $15 pp but we negotiated down to 10pp. We only stayed one night and looked for something different. Amazing grounds though and worth the stay for night.

Report Check-In

Beautifull place with colonial charm in front of a cliff. The property is huge and includes a small lake and bambus forest. Sleeping options from camping (10 usd pppn) safari tents and rooms (50 usd pn). Lovely dinner setting in front of the fireplace. Ask Lars and his team about the hike to the Sakarani Monestery!
