Xe Bangfai River cave | Informal Campsite

Amazing and serene spot for spending the night. We paid 100 kip for the bungalow. They prepare breakfast and dinner too.

The cave is immensely big: the tour “only” takes you into the first rapid, with a hike to a balcony view. We paid 30 per person, and 130 for the boat tour. I’d say it’s a must visit in Laos. The road leading here is great too.

Beautiful place with some bungalows and pavilions, they look pretty new. So did the toilets and showers. The road from Thahe to this place is newly made and paved now.

However, make sure you're not visting during raining season as there are no boats to the cave. They told us tourist season is between October and June. Or April. They were not exactly sure.

Entrance was still 30.000 kip per person even though there was no boat.

When we visited the cave we could camp on the property/parking. Nice and big grassy area with leveled spots (also in shade) set above the beautiful river where you can have a refreshing swim. Toilets available. Paid parking price 5.000 kip. During the day there were some locals working but at night quiet. No other tourists.

Entrance fee for the cave is 30.000 kip p.p. The boat trip is 60.000 kip per boat which can be arranged on site. Took 1,5 hour including 30 minute walk.

We were here in dry season. Last 15 km to the place is very bumpy & dusty, but doable. Can be tricky in wet season. Height limit is about 2.75m because of overhanging ‘welcome to Xe Bangfai’ sign on the road.

Really worth it!!
