Nice camping in a wash along Painted Canyon Road to Ladder Canyon trail with a great view towards Salton Sea. You are camping in a wash, so beware of flash floods. Very quiet.

Gorgeous area had all to ourselves. We were about a mile before the Ladder Canyon trailhead (awesome hike).
Report Check-InFantastic view, quiet and didn’t see any other campers. The road is very washboarded, but when you drive off the side to pick a camp spot, the sand is smoother and more hard packed than the main road. Any car could easily drive through here. Only downside is the Salton Sea is toxic and after 2 days, I’m having a hard time breathing. Wouldn’t recommend for anyone with allergy issues.
Report Check-InThe road is easily passable in a 2wd. The number of sedans on this road far surpasses any other kind. The road is heavily washboarded, but very passable. I camped at a pull off through some sand. There are a lot of options along the road where you don’t have to drive on sand
Report Check-Inmade it 3 miles in, the road is one of the worst wash-boards I have been on, nowhere to get off the road unless you are 4x4. we were barely able to turn around and make it out. the view is amazing though.
Report Check-InA few miles in on Painter Canyon Road. Decent cell reception, overlooks Mecca.
Report Check-InMiserable washboard for three miles getting to this spot. The sand was very soft causing us to nearly get stuck in our FWD Promaster. We had to reverse it up to the sand barrier to get back on the road. Beautiful views and okay cell service though.
Report Check-In i stayed a little bit closer to the main road, well I wanted to. but at 9pm a black car drove by, shot 3 times at my bus and drove further. of course I left as I am a solo female traveller,
Very scared. at least my dog and I had a great walk before during the day. the nature is beautiful. but of course I cannot recommend to overnight here.
