Border Zim/Bots | Customs and Immigration

This is a quiet Borderpost! We were through in 10 minutes both sides. Botswana got a card machine which made payment easy. We will definitely use this Borderpost again.

Report Check-In

Exiting Botswana:

Immigration: fill out a form, get an exit stamp in your passport, done.

Customs: helped the guy fill out the Carnet de Passages, but he also printed out a temporary exit permit (whatever that is supposed to be. He said he does that so that my vehicle is in the computer system.) He gives you a gate pass with your license number on it.

Gate: he collects your gate pass.

No vehicle inspection.

Entering ZIM:

Immigration: fill out an entry form, pay 30 USD, get a visa sticker in your passport and a receipt. He gives you a gate pass and puts his stamp on it.

Customs: helped him fill out the Carnet de Passages, paid 50 USD insurance, 20 USD road tax for a big rig, 10 USD carbon tax. He gives you a receipt and also stamps your gate pass.

Police: they look at your passport and vehicle papers, ask you some questions about your trip and stamp your gate pass.

Gate: they collect your gate pass, check all your papers again, have a look inside your vehicle and you can go.

On both sides very friendly and relaxed.

The road in ZIM is a very corrugated dirt
road. In BOTS all good tar except the last km through town.

Exiting Zim: Done in 5 Min. with CDP
Entering Bots: Desinfection of tyres and shoes, no control of the car just a look inside, Immigration and Customs easy. The road tax and insurance you can pay with Credit card.
